I have spent the last year and a half researching and testing background check services for a consumer review site (http://www.CompleteReviews.net ) and in that time have run tons of background checks using many different companies. Most internet background checks are completely automated… that is, you input some information and a report is generated automatically. They are not generally that in-depth. They will list things like your address history, any criminal records related to your name, sometimes they will find aliases (the better companies), not your place of employment, not your SSN and not your cell phone. They will also list things like court records (if you had a foreclosure, were sued in small claims, or a bankruptcy, etc).
Some internet based background check companies offer much more in-depth services however. One I use actually has licensed private investigators generating the report and they would be able to find everything you listed above with the exception of the cell phone probably.

Whats “everything” Are we talking about my social? My children’s names? My place of employment? My previous addresses? My cell phone number? What ?

How do I do a persons background check on the internet?
Can we check into someones personal background for any criminal activity, current job status, address etc ~ on the Internet? I am sure that it is possible, I just don’t know how to do it.
What is the most cost efficient way to do a background check on someone in MN?
Just looking for information on a relatively inexpensive way to conduct a reliable internet background check on a resident in Minnesota.

Does internet history show up in a background check?
I’m applying for a government internship, and in order to be accepted and receive Secret or Top Secret security clearance I have to undergo a background check. However, I’m worried that when they do the background check they will see the porn sites I have visited. So I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the government checks for in your internet history, if they do it at all.

for secret security clearence, it’s still the basic “call the references” deal. For Top secret they actually show up and interview people. They don’t care about pornography in either case. It’s all about your character and whether or not you have any debt.
