multinational companies do. locals do as well, but not as extensive as they don’t have the resources. however, tools are becoming increasingly available globally for much cheaper today than in the past . . . so keep that in mind :-)

What exactly is a comprehensive background check?
It’s for a job I might be getting at a police station, but not as a cop, in the office, they said if I passed the first interview the next one will be the comprehensive background check. I know they will be checking to see if I have a criminal record or not, which I do not. I’ve never been in trouble with the police at all. My question is, do they just check me, or do they check my family, how far back do they go and what exactly are they looking for? Both of my brothers have records that are over 25 years old and I’m just wondering if some of that will come up. What they did when they were young has nothing to do with me and I don’t want anything held against me for something I didn’t do. Does anyone know what they do actually check? I’m Canadian by the way, so it might be a bit different from the States.

it depends i think. if you passed very well the first interview they will not pay a lot of attention to others in your family, but if inverse they will find a cause to eliminate you from that job competition.

In your situation, you will need a lawyer. But before you go out and get one, try and repost your question to this website. http://www.avvo.com
It is a LEGAL Q&A site, where actual lawyers reply to questions posted. You may be able to find a lawyer in your state of Georgia that can seal your records.

Another option you could try is seek the judge or court to issue you a letter that you have completed the probation and terms set out by the Judge and that he (the Judge) issued an order of dismissal regarding your case in 2002.

Individuals having Yankee White clearances undergo extensive background investigation. Yankee White-cleared personnel are granted access to any information for which they have a need to know, regardless of which organization classified it or at what level. The Yankee White clearance includes requirements for U.S. citizenship and unquestionable loyalty to the United States. Some sources assert that these clearances require that cleared personnel not be and not have been married to a person of foreign descent and not to have traveled to countries unfriendly to the U.S.

    Comprehensive criminal background check question?
I am an engineer and productive, “law-abiding citizen” living in Atlanta. Prior to 2000 I had no criminal record. In 2000 I developed a severe mental illness. Alone, I became progressively psychotic to the point I broke the law. In 2002 I plead guilty under the First Offender program and successfully completed probation in 2004. At that point the Judge issued an order dismissing the case. Shortly after completing probation, in accordance with instructions from the DA’s office, I submitted an application for expungement at City Hall East, the arresting agency, to clear/seal my criminal record from the public (but as I understood it not law enforcement). I was supposed to be called and advised my record was cleared but never was. Regardless, a few months after filing for expungement, I went to the Fulton Co. courthouse and pulled my criminal record. It came up clear and I thought all was well.

Approximately 2 years later I applied for employment and was hired pending a criminal background check. When the employer did a comprehensive background check, my full criminal history came up. Puzzled, I again went to the Fulton Co. courthouse to pull my record, and again it came up clear. Approximately 6 months after that I again was hired conditional on a background check with the same result.

The DA’s office is of no help (don’t get me started on those incompetents). Is there anything I can do to seal my record?

what does the Yankee White background check involve?
What sorts of checks are involved in the so called “most comprehensive background check run by the federal government” and what sort of qualifiers are needed to pass. I’m wondering if I have any hope of working in a major executive office in the future or whether I should focus my efforts elsewhere. Thanks.

There are some on-line sites that do it, but for good information you can expect to pay a few hundred dollars. The other on-line sites simply pull public information already available on the internet. But many government agencies are not wired up for such assess. You may think you have all of the info, but you are missing tons!
