How can i get a list of background check companies to send my expungment papers to?
I have a criminal record that is 7 years old. It has since been expunged/sealed. I need to fax that information to background check companies so they can update their records
7 years ago i had a misdemeanor placed on my criminal record. I know that you can legally deny it but the background check still shows it. I had my record expunged. But it still shows up. That is why i need the list so i can have them update their records.

There are hundreds of background screening companies and there is really no way for them to keep track of who has been expunged. When they do a background check and they see the charge has been expunged (if they see it at all) they should not report it. However, not all background screening companies do what they are suppose to.

Melissadata (better, but only gets you the town — try White Pages from there) and zabasearch (not as up-to-date, but has exact dates and sometimes phone numbers).

What type of information do background check companies give employers?
When they request a credit history report of the prospective employee. I personally would not want any one other than when i am seeking credit looking at my private information.

It is fairly common to run credit checks on employees now. You generally give them that right when you sign an application.
Background checks can be extensive or cursury.
The can include felonies, misdemeanors, marital status, credit check.

Most background checks only check the counties and states in which the applicant has lived, however, some check other places too. To be sure you can look through your own personal records for free using http://www.crimcheck.com , they have an extensive free public records section. Good for the DIY’ers.
But since you would have to do the research yourself which can lead to missing out on information, I would recommend http://www.easybackgroundchecks.com , they offer statewide background checks for $20. They also offer nationwide background checks for $30
