I need some general info about Sydney…?
Im moving down there from Colorado and I really dont know anything about Sydney. Ive been there once before but only for like 4 days so I didnt learn much. I just wanna know things like How easy is it to get a job there? I only have a High school diploma and a year of college? Would I be able to support myself and live on my own with my “lack of qualifications”? How big is the city kilometer wise? How long does it take to get from one end of NSW to the other? Are there a lot of parks or just open areas where I can go relax or take a LONG walk or run (I REALLY enjoy being outdoors)? Are there places relatively close by where I can go camping (within 2-3 hours drive)? What about parks and such where I could go if i wanted to be totally alone and quiet and no people around? Do they have public intoxication laws there or can I take some beer and drink it at a park? Is it more fast paced or laid back compared to other big cities? Do they take kindly to Americans?
Ran outa characters… How easy is it to get around say if I get a job halfway across the city and I dont have a car when I first get there? How reliable is the public transportation and how often do they come around? What are the exact penalties for drunk driving? Is marijuana legal? Is it overcrowded? Im not going to have any financial support from anywhere else and Im 21 so would it be possible for me to make a living (like i said I have only a year of college so no real qualifications)? what else? I dunno but ill post more when i think of em…

We moved from colorado – nederland – to sydney about 4 years ago. job wise – jobs are easy to get, it just depends on what you will do. Call center or laboring work is super easy to get. try http://www.seek.com.au, or kellyservices.com.au . the actual city center is only about 5 kilometers across, but sydney area would take you about an hour to drive from outer suburbs to outer suburbs. NSW would take about 15 hours to drive from north to south along the coast. Maybe a bit longer. most new people love living in bondi, coogee, manly, surry hills, randwick, pyrmont – all close to the beach and city. there are lots of parks and open areas everywhere, but remeber, sydney is a very big city compared to any city you would find in colorado, so the bush is a bit of a drive away. Some good reserves close to sydney that you can get out and be alone in is the royal national park – about 45 mins from the city center http://www.cronullabeachyha.com/tourist-information/royal-national-park.html balls head reserve about 20,mins north http://www.northsydney.nsw.gov.au/www/html/2258-balls-head-reserve.asp, wogan valley, blue mountains…. there are heaps of beautiful places. you can drink beer in a park (weird question) it is way fast paced compared to colorado. The closest US city in regards to style is san fran. Does that help? let me know what else you might want to know. We LOVE IT here.

There are laws in the United States about having sex with people who are intoxicated. It would not be thrown out of court. I would suggest making sure you are in a relationship with a girl before you bring her home from a bar to have sex. Maybe your days of one night stands are over.

Legal question rape/sex laws in NSW Sydney, layers and people that have judicial knowledge please take a look.?
Ok I’m going to admit that I am scared. I’m a American student from Virginia going to Sydney for college(UNI). I have been reading up on the new rape law in Sydney and if you are a layer or have experience you can help me. If a girl I am going to have sex with is way over intoxicated like puking it ant going to happen. I’m afraid that if I do have sex with a girl who has had one or two drinks to relax, or that has come from a bar and drake an amount that would be unknown that if I offend her during or after intercourse then I will be charged with rape. Also how does the law protect people from having someone say that they were drunk a week after when they in fact did not drink at all. Under the new law as I understand it all the “victim” needs to prove is that she/he was not able to make a normal decision due to alcohol. Some people would argue that even one beer has an effect even if it is insignificant. In the us that would be thrown out of the court, however like in the US getting charged with an crime can be an costly and emotionally damaging process that takes years to resolve. I was wandering if someone could enlighten me as to the interpretation of the law and how it is enforced upon not only the “charged” and the “victim”. I agree that rape is wrong and that those that are guilty should be punished to the full existent of the law, but the key word is guilty. I appreciate your input and thoughts on the matter at hand.
