It is a heavier, not sweet wine. Good with red meat. If the person is not a wine drinker, they may still like it, but you might be better off with a merlot, as it is lighter and slightly sweeter (not so sour and less chance of the dry, oakie taste that some of the younger Cabernet’s have). If you do decide on a Cab, the older the better. Cabs need to age. One that is less than 4 years old is really too young to taste real good. Some good cabs that I would recommend would be Silver Oak, Robert Mondavi, Ferrari Carrano. They all have a good Merlot too. Merlots can be younger, maybe a year or two old is old enough to be decent. Merlots tend to be less expensive too.

Picking a red wine is a very subjective thing. What does the person you are buying it for like?
My personal preference is any red made by Shafer Vineyards in Napa Valley. I especially like their 2003 Merlot, the 2004 One Point Five Cab, If money is no object, try to get your hands on one of their Hillside Select bottlings.

What does a cabernet sauvignon wine taste like?
I was just curious as I’m going to buy some for a friend of mine and I don’t know if he would really enjoy it. Is it something that you have to be a wine lover for or does everybody pretty much like it?

What is the average price for both wines and where can I buy it? By the way, I will be coming in Mindanao for my cultural studies internship and I would like to know if you have wine sellers. I will be going to Tawi-Tawi as my first assignment. Do you think I should bring a bottle of wine with me at least?
