How to Complete Your Home with Great Kitchen Furniture

by SanD

In many ways the kitchen is the heart of the home. If that is the case, why is it that kitchen furniture is often last on the list of acquisitions for a new apartment or home? In fact, most people do not think much further than the basic kitchen set, table and enough chairs to seat the family at dinner, when they are furnishing the kitchen. The modern kitchen in particular, is a room with built-in cabinets for storage, and appliances for cooking, food storage and cleaning up after dinner. While there are all sorts of cabinet and tile styles, if you really want to individualize your kitchen style, a few pieces of kitchen furniture can really make your kitchen the centerpiece of your home.

Add extra kitchen storage with style

Every kitchen can use extra storage space, no matter how much space the cabinets and pantry already provide. You can add style kitchen storage with if you choose a few nice pieces wisely. Kitchen storage furniture includes pieces like old fashioned jelly cabinets, kitchen islands and pantry cabinets.

Catskill Craftsman offers a full range of wooden furniture for your kitchen, all with a simple, elegant style that never grows old. The single door cabinet with flat panel wooden doors is a versatile country style jelly cabinet with sleek lines and flat panel doors. An item such as this can be ideal for customization. You could stencil the front or paint the entire cabinet to match or contrast with your kitchen walls. If you need even more storage space, Catskill Craftsman also makes the same style in a double door version. Both kitchen cabinets have four shelves and are perfect for storing canned goods or dishware. The dimensions also make it the perfect container for organization systems so that you can organize your entire kitchen behind a pair of stylish doors.

You can find freestanding kitchen cupboards and storage cabinets in many styles as well. For a rustic look, you might choose a Pine Utility Kitchen Pantry that comes in a honey pine finish, or weathered red, white or sage green stain to accent todayÃ"'""s most popular kitchen colors. Inside, the cabinet features two tall shelves and six spice rack/can shelves built into each of the double doors.

Utility cabinets help hide clutter and organize your kitchen

Kitchen furniture can do more than just add a few shelves behind a closed door. There are some lovely pieces that are designed to be functional as well as decorative. Why put your trash outside where the neighbors can see it when you could tuck it away out of sight in a wooden trash bin? Choose the right trash bin and you can add even more to your kitchen.

One of the hottest new trends in kitchen furniture is wicker and wire. Add a white or black wicker and wood trash bin storage unit to your kitchen and you will be adding more than just a trash bucket. The distressed wood in black or white provides a nice contrast to dark wicker baskets that hold kitchen towels or linens. Add a wooden cutting board to the top and you have an all purpose kitchen sideboard for display or use.

Kitchen islands add seating, table space and storage

Kitchen islands are a new twist on a throwback to the sixties, and all the rage. A well made kitchen island can add counter and table space as well as storage space to your kitchen. Catskill Craftsman makes a line of beautifully finished butcher block islands that are right at home in todayÃ"'""s contemporary and country style kitchens. From the Heart of the Kitchen Island, a cabinet cart with open shelves and closed storage doors, to the Super Island Plus Kitchen Island that includes closed storage, a built in knife rack and a drop leaf table, a Catskill Craftsman kitchen island can be the perfect finishing touch for your kitchen.

Add extra table space or make the most of a small kitchen with a compact buffet set

Ideal for smaller kitchens, compact three piece table and stool sets are the ultimate in versatility. Specially purposed kitchen islands, they consist of a narrow counter-height table and a pair of stools that usually store under the table out of the way. Counter height table sets are available in a variety of styles, including a very stylish breakfast bar that rolls on casters so that you can take it wherever. For the elegant bistro style kitchen, the Capria 5-piece counter height pub dining set could be the perfect solution. The round counter-height table takes up very little room, and the wedge shaped stools slide underneath for storage when not in use.

Whatever the style of your kitchen, you can finish it off beautifully with the right kitchen furniture. Take stock of your needs, and take a look at some of the beautiful options from which you can choose.

How can I make table less wobbly?
The link below is representative of the table I’m using as a counter in the kitchen: http://www.target.com/gp/detail.html/601-2299537-3392928?ASIN=B000V9ENS0&AFID=Froogle&LNM=B000V9ENS0|Verona_Round_Drop_Leaf_Table&ci_src=14110944&ci_sku=B000V9ENS0&ref=tgt_adv_XSG10001

To make it counter height I removed the original legs (which were sort of slanted outward) with porch spindles which look quite a bit like those in the picture. To make it more secure I braced them on three sides.

But the darned thing still wobbles. It butts up against the fridge, a window ledge and another counter. It’s not level with any of those surfaces but is just a bit shorter.

So what can I do to make this table less wobbly?

Do you want it to remain a table? If not, mount a 2″ X 4′ the length of the wall(window ledge side) and along the counter at a height minus whatever the table thickness is, a brace(ends miter cut)can be mounted diagonally for extra support. remove the legs and on the outside corner by the fridge replace the porch spindle with a longer one. Another option is to fasten a block that makes up the difference under the table and mount it against the bottom of the spindle or find something to put under the foot of the table to stabilize it.
If you wish the table to remain a table, place a level on the table to determine which side and legs are making it unstable, then slip 1″ X 1″ squares of cardboard or other material under the shorter legs until you have adjusted it where it no longer wobbles. Hope this helps. Good luck and God Bless.
