Hi there. I have been through the CICA process it is a load of crap.

That green book they give you with different compensation levels is totally wrong.

I was stabbed 11 times I have scares all over me

    2 On My Legs
    2 Left Arm Pit
    1 lower Abdomen
    4 Chest
    2 in my back

an they still said it was a minor disfugerment.

The one in my lower abdomen severed my illiack artury and needed a laporactomy which is a 10inch cut from the bottom of my chest to my belly button and a 8 inch cut from left to right and they said this doesnt count because the hospital did it.

If you take into account all the scars I had when I got out of hospital with all the pipes, wires and cuts the hospital did I have about 30 scares.

I was in hospital for 12 week from Sept 03 to Nov 03 and was off work til June 04 i got

    £6,000 for my injuries
£10,000 because they where caused by a burglar

    CICA significant disfigurement?
I’m looking to make a claim through CICA in the UK for a scar i recieved on my face from an assault. On their compensation calculator they have “minor visible disfigurement” and “significant disfigurement”. I was wondering if anyone knows from experience how big a scar needs to be to be considered significant disfigurement? As there is a difference of 3000 pounds between the 2. Thanks :)

If you claim her, you won’t owe any income tax. If you don’t claim her, you will owe around $125. And in either case, yes you need to file a tax return.

If your child lives with you and doesn’t live with her dad, then him having earned income is meaningless, since he wouldn’t be eligible for EIC – you only can get that if the child lives with you.

Will I have to pay taxes on my unemployment compensation?
I made approx. $13K in 2009, all from unemployment. I have one dependent. I’m thinking of letting her father claim her, as he had earned income. I did a calculator on TurboTax and it said that I didn’t owe or get a refund. Is this accurate? Do I even need to file a tax return?

None of us can tell you if you qualify and how much you will get, you will have to fill out your financial aid application and your school will notify you of how much you are eligible for and in what form. Even if you don’t qualify for any grants, you may qualify for loans that you and your parents take out to go to school.

Ask your parents to help fill out your FAFSA. For the 2010-2011 school year they need to provide their 2009 (last year’s) tax return information. So money earned this year may not matter–until next year when you apply for financial aid again.

You should talk to the financial aid administrator at your school for more information.

    ny unemployment help?
ok so my OC date was 05/11/2009 I’m on week 72 and 5 days…my unemployment is suppose to be up in 2 weeks…this is what the UI benefit calculator says:
Total number of weeks of benefits you may be entitled to (not including your unpaid waiting week) :

    81
    *OC effective date entered:
    05/11/2009

*OC effective date before May 1, 2006 26 weeks of regular UI
*OC effective between May 1, 2006 – Sept 8, 2008 26 weeks of regular UI
    20 weeks of EUC-Tier 1
    13 weeks of EUC-Tier 2
    20 weeks of EB
    14 weeks of EUC-Tier 3
    (13 weeks Tier 3 and 1 week Tier 2)

This is what the unemployment site says:
On July 22, 2010, Congress approved, and the President signed into law legislation to extend the eligibility dates for benefit extensions to November 28, 2010. This means that individuals who exhaust regular unemployment benefits by November 21, 2010, will be eligible for Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC), provided they claim their first week of EUC by week ending November 28, 2010. Also, individuals who exhaust their current tier of EUC by week ending November 28, 2010, will be able to move to the next tier. New York State now provides 67 additional weeks of unemployment benefits, as well as the usual 26 weeks of regular benefits, for a total of 93 weeks of benefits. These benefits may be claimed in the usual manner; and it is not necessary to file a new claim unless the individual is advised to do so.

Note on EUC Tier 4 Benefits: New York State’s 3-month average unemployment rate is 8.3%. This falls below the 8.5% average required by the Federal government for people to claim the six weeks of benefits under EUC Tier 4.

    * If you have exhausted all EUC Tier 3 benefits by the week that ends August 15, 2010, you can start receiving EUC Tier 4 benefits anytime thereafter, up until the last payable week of May 1, 2011.
    * If you do not exhaust all EUC Tier 3 benefits by the week that ends August 15, 2010, you cannot receive EUC Tier 4 benefits. That means you will move from EUC Tier 3 directly into Extended Benefits.

The additional 67 weeks of benefits currently provided fall under two separate programs that allow unemployed individuals to continue receiving benefits after running out of their regular state benefits. These programs are:

    * Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) – providing 47 weeks of emergency benefits
    * Extended Benefits (EB) – providing 20 weeks of extended benefits.

am I done with unemployment or do I get an extension? I do not understand (I have a sort of ADD that I don’t understand a lot things in writing)

I’m asking because I start a job in 3 months and I would hope to get an extension to help me pay the bills.

Only serious answers please…I will vote for best :)
ummmm I GOT a job…if you read it you’d know that I wrote that…but they wont open for 2-3 months.

unemployment wont tell me…and that is why i asked here…I have called them.

Does Unemployment affect FAFSA results by alot?
My parents are both unemployed. My dad will probably have 9 months of unemployment money (max each week) by the time this year ends. My mom lost her job in mid june and has been claiming unemployment money as well which will be about half a year. She also got unemployment compensation benefits from her company because she got laid off. She will receive an equivalent of half a year of income, so basically she works for the full year. My dad has not worked at anytime this year. So what I want to ask is will getting so much unemployment money and my mom getting a full year worth’s of income get me no money from FAFSA? One thing I also noticed is that on the CUNY financial aid calculator, it asks for “income from work” which makes a really big difference. The income my mom made was around 35k and the total unemployment money that my parents got (together) was around 26k which would almost double our AGI if it were to count. Basically what I really want to know is, will I and how much money I will get for college. Thanks!

The only correct serious answer that you will get will have to come from the Unemployment insurance office that you are dealing with. So that is where you really need to go to get the correct information that you need and want for your situation.
The above seems to indicate that your chances of getting any extension of the benefits would be pretty slim and possibly no chance of getting any extension of the benefits.
