The specialist is an adjuster with more experience. If the claim got transferred from an adjuster to a specialist it usually means one of two things. 1)it is a major injury or 2) the company thinks there is something fishy with the claim.

What is the difference between a claims adjuster and a claims specialist?
In an auto accident bodily injury claim what is the difference between a claims adjuster and a claims specialist and why would a case be bumped up to the specialist?

Does a personal injury claims adjuster have a limit as to the amount they can settle a case for?
I was wondering if a personal injury claims adjuster has to go to his or her superior for a larger dollar amout? What is the process for a claim that will potential settle for around the 100,000.00 mark?

Pretty much any claim over $5,000, has to be reviewed with a supervisor. Any claims over $20,000, usually need a department supervisor to sign off on – this is a FRAUD control measure that the insurance companies implement.
But NO carrier is going to settle a case for more than the POLICY LIMIT.

If you’re an inside adjuster, at an hourly rate, you’ll probably be working part time – very part time. Most inside adjusters are salaried, and work 40 – 60 hour weeks.
How many hours a week to property claims adjuster work?
I am going to interview for a property claims adjuster next week and I had some questions. I asked the person setting up the interview and they couldn’t really tell me much. The pay is hourly and I am trying to find out how much the pay will be.
The position is out in the field doing the property inspections and writing the checks there.

What other career fields could a claims adjuster apply for?
I am a bodily injury claims adjuster for an auto insurance company with 4 1/2 years experience. I’ve grown tired of the nonsense within our company. I am presently searching for jobs with other companies in all branches of claim handling. However, I’m also thinking about switching fields all together. What other career fields would my experience qualify me for if I decided to change fields? Also, does anyone recommend a good insurance field to enter?
