Fantasy Football Scoring

2009 Fantasy Football Mock Draft
Author: Bill Parsons
Maximum Fantasy Sports has released their fantasy football Mock Draft for the 2009 fantasy football season. Mock Drafts are very useful tools to assist fantasy football participants when executing fantasy football online drafts or establishing pre-rankings for fantasy football offline drafts. While many fantasy football sites provide a de facto ranking system, to truly succeed at fantasy football, participants need to have a successful draft. Mock Drafts are a huge time-saver when compared to analyzing all players at the various skill positions for the 32 teams found in the NFL. When evaluating the NFL players, Maximum Fantasy Sports assumed a standard league scoring configuration. The configuration assumes starting a starting roster of 1 QB, 2 RBs, 3 WRs, 1 TE, 1 K and 1 D/ST. Points are awarded for the following actions:
Passing: 1 point for every 25 yards, 4 points for each Touchdown, and -2 for each Interception
Rushing: 1 point for every 10 yards, 6 points for each Touchdown, and -2 for each fumble lost
Receiving: 1 point for every 10 yards, 6 points for each Touchdown
Kicking: 3 points for every Field Goal made and 1 point for each successful Extra Point
Defense: 2 points for every fumble covered, 2 points for every interception, 1 point for every sack, 2 points for each shutout and 2 points for each safety
The Mock Draft is 16 rounds in length and assumes 12 teams are participating in the league. The round-by-round picks with comments can be found on the Maximum Fantasy Sports website at http://www.maximumfantasysports.com/. The Mock Draft is far too large to list in this article.
There are many other fantasy football scoring statistics and scoring systems that can be used, so make sure to make adjustments to the draft positions based on scoring differences found in your league before drafting your team. You definitely want to make adjustments to certain wide receivers and running backs if you are playing in a league that awards Points Per reception (PPR). These points make possession receivers and pass-catching running backs more valuable.
Maximum Fantasy Sports is the only Fantasy Football site that allows both player and position draft pre-ranks, giving Maximum Fantasy Sports the most sophisticated draft control in the fantasy sports industry. These pre-ranking tools allow league participants to provide the draft control with the drafting philosophy of its owners. There is a greater likelihood that the draft control will draft a team that the owner will be happy with if the owner is not present at a live online draft.
Maximum Fantasy Sports is the only fantasy football website to allow Commissioners to configure a league with in-game player changes. This feature is optional, but, when used, gives the manager the ability to immediately react to injuries or player benching situations and substitute in another player at that position for the remaining unplayed quarters or half of that fantasy player's game.
Maximum Fantasy Sports offers private one-season and Keeper leagues as well as a variety of Public fantasy football leagues that offer a cash prize. Maximum Fantasy Sports hosts Survivor Pools, Confidence Pools and Pick 'em Pools for free.

From what i remember, you need to set the rules prior to the draft, because there can be an uproar in the league if you change the rules mid-season. This happened to me in the league I was in (offline custom rules), and it would have changed the way I drafted had I known it would happen.
Try starting at yahoo and asking around. Hope this Helps…

It is stupid a completion should not be a point.

Most leagues have scoring systems that are essentially the same, but vary slightly in the value that yardage have. It really just comes down to your preference, but I do have one suggestion. The Yahoo! Experts League (Brandon Funston, Brad Evans, Chris Harris, etc.) employs the following scoring system.
Rushing/Receiving: 1 point per 10 yds
Rushing/Receivng TD: 6 points
Passing: 1 point per 20 yds
Passing TD: 4 points
Additional “bonus” points add a new element to the leauge, which can be fun. Most leagues generally follow about the same system as what yours uses (300 passing, 150 rushing, 125 receving) or something very similar.
Good luck with your league next year.

Do you think this fantasy football scoring system is stupid or is it just me?
My brother’s leauge has two starting QBs, the rest is the same. However they award a point per completion and per reception. I did not participate this year, joining a public leauge instead. I felt they were missing the values most leauge shoot for. I know its a matter of opinion, but i think its gay and they need to change it, How do you feel?

Can the Yahoo Fantasy Football scoring settings be changed during the season?
What is the latest can the scoring settings in our Yahoo Fantasy Football custom league be changed to whether or not we allow fractional points? We’re doing a league vote on whether or not to do fractional points.
Thanks!

When can I change the scoring settings for fantasy football?
Hey, I am the commissioner of a fantasy football league on yahoo. Pending a vote in my league we are going to change the scoring in my league but our draft is tonight. It says that I can change the stats “until the league starts”…Does that mean I have to change it before the draft or before the first game?
