2010 Fantasy Football Player Rankings

Author: Bill Parsons

New Page 1

Fantasy Football player rankings are very useful when executing your fantasy football online drafts or establishing your pre-rankings for your offline drafts.  When evaluating the NFL players, we assumed a standard league scoring configuration.  The configuration assumes a starting roster of 1 QB, 2 RBs, 2 WRs, 1 TE, 1 K and 1 D/ST.  Points are awarded for the following actions:

Passing: 1 point for every 25 yards, 4 points for each Touchdown, and negative 2 for each Interception

Rushing: 1 point for every 10 yards, 6 points for each Touchdown, and negative 2 for each fumble lost

Receiving: 1 point for every 10 yards, 6 points for each Touchdown

Kicking: 3 points for every Field Goal made and 1 point for each successful Extra Point

Defense: 2 points for every fumble covered, 2 points for every interception, 1 point for every sack, 2 points for each shutout and 2 points for each safety

There are many other statistics and scoring systems that can be used, so make sure to make adjustments to the rankings based on scoring differences found in your league.

It depends on whose rankings you’re talking about.

Most “experts” make a guestimate of how many yards, catches/rushes/attempts, touchdowns a guy’s gonna score, and add up the points based upon a default scoring system. They then rank the list by points, go over it for “common sense” making a few adjustments here and there, and publish it for all us fools to rely upon. Y!’s experts, Funston, Buser & Behrens do that, and then they average out the rankings.

Y! let’s the computer do it by a secret algorithm based purely upon past performance.

    Regards

I would try out Melgea – The Fantasy Sports Search Engine (http://www.melgea.com). It’s completely and utterly free. It’s got a Google Custom Search set up, so you only get search results that are fantasy sports specific. There’s also a nifty feature that lets you quickly lookup player cards from the major fantasy sites (ESPN, Yahoo, CBS), as well as a local news search feature that combs the hometown newspapers of every single pro team in North America.

Most importantly, there’s a huge list of nearly 50 free rankings and cheat sheets to help you get ready for your fantasy draft.

And it works for fantasy baseball and basketball too.

    Good luck!

Any advice for a first time fantasy football player?
My roomates and I are starting a fantasy football league, just for us, just for fun. I have never played before, and both of my roomates are guys and have played for years. I am not completely football ignorant, but I feel like I am going to get whooped if i don’t learn a little something before our draft. Does anyone have any good sites with mock-drafts, player stats, etc.?? Any general advice? Thanks!!! :)

Does anyone know of a list of college football fantasy football player rankings for the 2007 – 08 BOWL season?
I am in a fantasy football league for this year’s bowl game season. You draft only players that are in this year’s bowl games. I’m wondering if anyone has compiled rankings similar to the rankings people do for NFL fantasy players. 1-30 top QB’s – 1-30 top RB’s 1-30 top WR’s etc – but just for college bowl games. Thanks for the help!

What website can I visit to get a good fantasy football player ranker?
I’m playing fantasy football with yahoo, and the draft is this Saturday. I have not followed football at all recently so I’m looking for a good website that ranks the hottest players for each position for fantasy.
    Any recommendations?
