Which league to join in fantasy football?
Author: Russel crow
One of the excellent games ever played is the Football. Lots of football fans just wait for the football season. But the now the wait is over and you can take part in fantasy football. The fantasy football is played anytime even in non season. The merit of this game is you can make your team by choosing your own players. Though there are many people and fans of football that are unaware of this fantasy football.
A fantasy football is a game which is played online by creating team and winning for it. Here you need to create your own team but before that you need to join a league. There are many types of leagues which consist of different rules, game format and prizes. These are more popular now because of the advancement in technologies. It can be very confusing for the beginners for joining the league. The famous types of leagues are standard draft league, auction draft league, dynasty league, keeper league, survivor league and IDP league.
Standard Draft league:
These are the most famous and popular among all the draft leagues. Here the team is selected with the players in snake like style. The owner can select the lineups on weekly basis. This is based on the position of the player which is allowed by the rules of league. Here you will find two types of draft leagues i.e. head to head and total points. In the former draft league, every week a team is matched against other teams. The team which receives highest points is declared as the winning team of the season. In the latter draft league the team doesn't keep a track on winner and loser of a team. Instead they keep on accumulating the points till the end of season and team high score are met for playoff games.
Auction draft league:
This type of draft league is comprised of the two types of standard draft league. But here the owner can bid amount of money on their players for completing their rosters.
Dynasty league:
In this league the players are the same in every season until and unless they are traded or released from the team.
Keeper league:
These have similar features of dynasty and standard draft league. In this league a draft of players is held every season where the owner have right to select the players for their prior season.
Survivor league:
This uses almost all kind of draft but the style mostly used is the auction or standard draft style. But the merit of this league is that every week the team with lowest points is eliminated.
Each team should consist of 23 players but only 11 players can play at one time. Generally in a league there are up to 20 teams which compete against each other.

I would like to invite you to my cash league. I have a few open slots left with an entry fee of $20. The fee is only 20 because it’s enough to give a decent jackpot, yet isn’t too expensive – that way we can actually get a good number of owners to join.
Anyone else reading this is welcome to join if you are serious about paying up and playing ALL season. This is legit cash league where I will collect the entry fees plus do the payouts myself all via PayPal. I offer more than just my word that I will not just screw you and keep the money. For starters, I would like to make contacts so that it will be easy to start custom cash leagues in future seasons. If you doubt me, I will also volunteer to offer up my personal information ( name, cell number, home address, school info, my facebook, etc)- I’m a bit reluctant about that part – but I’m in good hopes that if you trust to pay me the entry, that you will not harass me or anything of that sort.
I have no intention to swindle anyone out of their entry fees. As long as I can send you your prizes over PAYPAL it will be a very smooth process and if all goes well – we can try to do it again next year.
The date I’ve chosen for our live draft is Sunday August 17th, 2008 at Noon est. If there isn’t at least 6 teams by 24 hours before the start of the draft(Saturday August 16th, 2008), then the draft will be pushed back one week to Sunday August 24th at Noon Est.
Now with all that boring, yet crucial, info out of the way… lets get to the stuff you really want to hear about:
–100% of the money will be rewarded back to the league. This is part of the reason I’m doing this, I don’t want to pay sites 30% of my entry fees instead of giving them back to the league. I feel cheated paying these sites so much when ESPN does free custom leagues. ESPN has it setup so that you can list and customize everything to cater your wants & needs as a FF league. They have the settings for league fees and scoring and playoffs so you can doublecheck exactly what kind of league you would be getting into. I did a pay league last year through a friend of a friend and it was really nice…. probably a better setup than the paysite I used (Fantasybowl.com)
I am basically posting this ad anywhere I see someone thats looking to join a cash league- that way we can have a league full of FFballers that are there for the same reason – JACKPOT!
So far the league I created is only setup for 6 teams. at 20 each. the 120 jackpot would be split up with the majority going to the league winner. As soon as you’re all paid up and you join the league, you can vote on the poll to decide how to split the payout.
from week 11-15 (the last 5 regular season weeks).. we will introduce a $2 per week prize for the team that scores the most points that week. This will greatly help the integrity of our league! I’m sick of paying to get into a league, and then have other teams quit because they think they have no chance of making the playoffs. There won’t be any reason to desert your team in our league because everyone will be eligible for the prize.
Since the entry fee isn’t that much, I may be able to increase the number of owners slightly to 8 or 10. However the league fee will remain $20 no matter what and we will decide how to split up the cash as a whole via league poll.
There is trading, but they can be voted on by team owners to veto them if they seem unfair.
I’ve set the scoring up so that it includes the standards but goes a little bit beyond to try to account more for the things players should be getting points for…
some examples are : WRs get a fraction of a point for receptions
QB’s get a bonus for 400+pass yards
Rb’s get bonus for 100yd games
the head coach position is a unique feature, rewarding points for head coaches who win that week
home team advantage actually matters in our league- a 5 pt bonus to the home team
since we have a lot of chances to get points, the average scores will probably be a littler higher than what you’re used to. but it will more accurately show how well your players performed.
All of the scoring details and info can be found on the league info before you join it… Since we will be drafting according to the current scoring setup all the stat categories are set in stone. They are as is – so be OK with them before you pay in to the league.
To join:
1- contact me so I can invite you to our league. you can email me at rcc11@pitt.edu or text me your e-mail address to my cell phone 412-443-9141.
2- i will respond to you Asap with an invitation to join the league
3- after you join, paypal me the $20 entry fee. I *need* to have this money as soon as you join since I won’t let any teams participate in the draft this weekend if they haven’t already paid. Saturday Aug 16th at Noon est is the deadline to pay since the draft is Sunday Aug 17th at Noon Est. The money will sit in my checking account until the first prize is won, and I plan to do the payouts immediately. You win it, you get it.. no weeks/months of waiting. I’ve used some pay sites that didn’t send me my award check until july!
I’m a good honest person that likes to play FF… but only for $. You be the same!
I look forward to hearing from you all soon,
best bring your A game

usually kickoff returners get more points just cause they oftan return it for 10+ yards so thats 1+ point for every kickoff. Plus, most DB/Kick Returners are also decent on defence. so you will get some extra points there. Good Luck!

Drafting IDP’s during the middle rounds is the smartest choice, after you’ve picked all of your starting offensive positions. Of course, if people start taking them in the early goings, you need to pounce on a great one like Patrick Willis or Jared Allen. Fantasy Football, IDP question about kickoff/punt returners?
I’m in an IDP fantasy league. We get points 1 point for every 10 yards returned. I was wondering, should I pick a DB who is also a kickoff/punt returner or get a stud DB. I have Bob Sanders at the moment. What kind of DB will net me more points?
