Killing Bed Bugs - 7 Effective Ways To Exterminate The Pest…

Author: Abhishek Agarwal

Your day has been bad. You had a very bad nightmare the previous night and peed in your own bed and are late for your appointment.

How terrible a morning it was being and then there is an itch in your right arm. You look for the itchy spot and scratch it and relieve your self.

After that, there are itches in your navel, left knee, right elbow, your butt and your back. There are itches in every part of your body. Oh god! Every part of your body is on fire!

It is indeed a situation that is horrible. If this has happened before to you, you must be having bed bug infestations in your room or your bed.

As they can cause a lot of discomfort and inconvenience, you will be eager in figuring ways to kill the bed bugs and if possible, torture them to death.

Getting to know the target for killing the bed bugs:

First of all you must not act on impulse and kill them immediately. You must gather knowledge about a few facts and figures about bed bugs.

For starters, it will suffice if it is known that they are insects. They are very tiny, but can grow to about a quarter of an inch when they are healthy and fully mature. This makes you to wish to kill them in an even more gruesome way.

They are very tiny and don't have wings. Hence, if you are lucky, you may see them crawling to their thriving places. It is indeed good that they don't have wings. Otherwise, they would have invaded complete cities at a pace unimaginable. It will be harder to terminate their existence too.

Some facts that will fuel your emotions for killing them are given below.

o they are very persistent and even if a batch of bugs is exterminated from your house, it is highly likely that another batch will take their place.

o They not only hide in the tiniest of cracks and crevices on the wall, floors, furniture and beds, but also live in them. So, if you have a possessive nature, try killing them faster.

o They are nocturnal, that is they are mostly inactive during the day and can be seen wandering and crawling during the night. That is the time in which they look for food and try sucking blood from the most unsuspecting victims which would be you. Murder them!

o They can live for a period, as long as one year without food. They can hide for that long a period so as to ensure that they survive.

o They are very good travelers as they thrive in luggage, suitcases and baggage. Hence, it is indeed possible that bed bug checks will detect the presence of bed bugs inside aircrafts, cruise ships, hotels, motels and even vehicles.

o In the whole of their span of life, the female bugs can actually lay eggs thrice and each time they lay about three hundred eggs. They populate rapidly, so try killing them and thereby reduce their population.

o The eggs of bed bugs can hatch within ten days, which is too fast. They multiply and spread as rapidly as rabbits and when there is a bed bug killing spree, a very small number is reduced. So make sure you make a noticeable dent in their population by killing quite a lot of them, next time you go on a bed bug killing spree.

Doing the action of exterminating bed bugs:

After gaining knowledge about the little things about bed bugs, you can finally start killing the bed bugs.

No one will say that killing bed bugs is or will be easy. Extermination of bedbugs will always be a very difficult task as discovering their habitats and other hiding places is as easy as going to the moon.

One of the best ways in which bed bugs can be killed is by not doing it yourself. Look for professional pest controllers, namely, triggermen or assassins in the bed bugs' lingo.

Professionals are much more knowledgeable than you in what task is at hand and have at their disposal, more efficient weapons against bed bugs.

"Thou shalt not kill" is a biblical verse. However, when it is killing of bed bugs, well there are exceptions in everything, right?

After 2 years, the bed bugs were most likely introduced to the home by you. This can happen through no fault of your own. Staying at an infected hotel/motel room or family/friends home could have been the cause. Heck..your kids could of taken them in on their clothing from one of their friends homes.

Most landlords do not legally have to cover the expenses after you’ve been there for a certain amount of time.

Check with your local building department or health department for specifics.

NO NO NO NO DO NOT buy a bed bug spray!!!
It is not going to work unless you spray directly on bed bugs.

Wash all your bedding items with HOT HOT water.

Use a steam cleaner on the mattress to kill live bed bugs.

Apply Bed Bug Powder from the site below.

Put the sheet back on the mattress.

We had the same issue as you are having. We tried sprays, foggers, bombs, and even professional exterminators.
And none of them worked, but bed bug came back after a few weeks.

But after using the powder, we don’t seem to get bitten at all. The powder is natural powder and is safe to humans and pets.

The price is also reasonable, and it is easy to use.

    Good luck.

Call a pest control company, I’ve read bed bugs can live for a long time w/o feeding and are very hard to kill. I don’t think any over-the-counter items harm them. I am sorry you are having this problem, the idea of bed bugs makes my skin crawl.

I highly doubt that Orkin provided them with commercial grade pest control, as you need a license to use it (and they would be legally negligent if they just handed the stuff out). God knows what they sprayed, but you need to press them on this issue. I’d also start looking for a new place to live, since this place you’re living seems to be a bit shady.

Flea larvae are little crawling worm like things. Bed bugs are bigger and I’ve read about it, since there is a rise in them again. Could the bugs have been there before you moved in? If what you have done doesn’t work, then try spraying all around the room, with bug killer. Look it up. Google it. For bed bugs. I’m hoping it is fleas left over from the last person who may have had pets. Bed bugs are a pain it sounds like. Good luck.

    Bed bugs or fleas?
So I’ve recently moved to a much warmer climate and lower elevation.
For the past week, while I’ve slept, or been without sleep some nights, mostly on my legs I’ve had what feels like microscopic mites crawling around. I’ve also gotten a few red marks on my neck, forehead and right above my knee on my thigh. I originally thought ti was just dust mites, but now I’m thinking it’s flea larvae. So far I’ve set off 2 dust bomb type sprays, and have covered my couch and my bed with this flea removal powder and have vacuumed it up. I don’t know if it’s fleas, though, because I’ve been told you can actually see fleas, unless their just larvae.
I’d like to get rid of whatever I have, but figuring out what it is has been half the trouble!
Oh and I have no pets so it couldn’t be from them, I’m thinking I got whatever it is from my couch I bought at a thrift store, but I have no idea at this point.

bed bugs forcing me to throw out artwork?
I have thirty years’ worth of art, writing and recent collections of art supplies crammed into my apartment. I understand that to get rid of bed bugs requires removal of hiding places they like, and they like paper. I don’t care about throwing out all my furniture and clothes. But I am rather chuffed about losing my life’s work. A lot of the writing was done b4 computers, it only exists ON PAPER. I am too busy and tired with my whirlwind cleaning and dragging things out to cry, (if I start I won’t stop) but at least I can tell all you guys…

    Anybody else had this happen?

What store can I buy Bed Bug eliminating spray?
My house is full of bed bugs, and as much as I vacuum, they don’t leave. I searched the internet for Bed Bug removal sprays, but I wasn’t able to find any at stores. Does anyone know a good store where I can by some kind of spray/medicine that can get rid of them for good?

I am a renter, who pays for bed bug removal?
I moved into an apt 2 years ago. I bought new furniture after I moved in and about 6 months later my kids started being eaten alive from bed bugs…I treated for a week and still have them. My landlord refuses to pay for treatment saying I brought them in. I showed him all my receipts from the furniture and mattresses and still refuses to treat. I am at my witts end and need to know who is responsible for the treatment?

    Commercial Bed Bug Spray safety?
Even tho it is required by law, my landlord refuses to hire a professional to exterminate bed bugs. The company claims they have sent their maintenance crew to train for bed bug removal. They also claim Orkin has provided them with commercial bed bug spray that they are using in our apartments. Normally, the maintenance comes in and sprays around for 2 minutes then leaves. Since my nieghbor and I have recently complained to them about their negligence they decided to soak everything in my apartment today with this spray. They stayed in my apartment for exactly 30 minutes today spraying everything. They have given the tenants memos that state – “The 4 products used are commercial grade, but they are non toxic to humans and animals.” However, when the maintenance comes to spray they always wear gloves and face masks. When they were spraying I couldnt help but cough as I could feel it in the back of my throat. My daughter also started coughing. When the guys left I could hear them coughing in the hallway. It has been about 4 hours and my apartment still smells horrible and I now have a huge headache and feel lightheaded.
I just emailed them for the MSDS (material safety data sheet). I have a feeling they will fail to provide it. Does anyone have any idea what it is they could be spraying and if it is possible to spray too much even tho its “non toxic?” I am fed up with these people.
