How To Avoid or Reduce Wedding Stress

By admin On July 23, 2010 Under 1839

Planning a wedding can be a struggle for brides-to-be especially for those who are working professional with very little spare time in their daily routine. Some brides-to-be will survive the struggle, but just barely but others will suffer under the enormous pressure of it all.

"Bridal Wars" is a term used to described the enormous pressure experienced by the bride-to-be in her struggle to deal with wedding planning problems and issues. As the pressure builds the ugly side of power struggle amongst family members can put strain on relationships with family, future in-laws and even the husband-to-be.   The wedding planning journey will test the organization, creativity, negotiation and many more skills of the bride-to-be and her helpers.

The planning process starts almost immediately when the couple announced their engagement and their wedding plans to everyone.  And... this is the start of the stressful times ahead for the bride-to-be.

It will all start with well-meaning family members (mum, dads, aunties, cousins) all believing that they can contribute wedding planning ideas to the biggest day in the life of their loved ones.  As we all know, wedding planning is very personal to the bridal couple, especially to the bride-to-be.  She probably had dream of this day since she was a girl.  She would like all her wedding fantasies to come true.   But..... there could be constraints - budget, religion, traditions, culture.  There will be people around her that would want to influence her decisions - all well meaning of course.   So.... at every family gatherings she would have to listen more of their every person views of what she should and should not consider for her perfect wedding day.  There would be arguments as to why she should not wear a pink wedding gown.  However you cannot just bring yourself to tell them (could be your elders) that it is your wedding and you will run it the way you want it......

Every bride reacts to wedding stress differently. Some lay-back brides-to-be just cope with poise. Others may deal with it in a less then ladylike way, may even be hostile. They become mean and hurtful to people around them especially their mum or future-in-laws, who genuinely are the people trying to help in the wedding planning. Needless to say, the stress from the wedding planning can also affect the bride-to be working life and her behaviour towards her work colleagues.

The bride-to-be will experience even higher level of stress when the groom-to-be is a non-active participant in the wedding planning process.  The classic line you would expect from a groom-to-be is "I'll support you in whatever decisions you make for our wedding, dear "  So... what this means is that the bride-to-be will be given full authority and control of the wedding plan and of course the workload.  Does the bride-to-be really think that every details in the wedding plan are under control because the truth may be is that they are not under control.

So how to avoid stress related problems to the wedding preparations? If the couple can afford a wedding planner, that would solve most of the potential problems.   However, if the couple wishes to do the wedding planning themselves, then a good starting point would be to use a wedding planning software that provides a complete checklist of all the required tasks, help to organize all wedding details, e.g. invitations, tracks RSVP, prints tent-card, reception sitting plan, control and monitor budgets, managed wedding vendors, record gifts and send Thank You note.  Nowadays, a wedding planning software is very affordable and is worth very cent when it can reduce or avoid stress and while letting the couple both play an active part in the wedding planning and have fun along the way.

Remember that the bigger and more formal the wedding, the more needs to be done.   One way to reduce stress is to have a smaller or more casual wedding.  Planning a Beach Wedding with beach wedding ideas will be less stressful than a Fairy Tale Wedding with Cinderella wedding ideas where royal opulence is the key.

It is always worthwhile to de-stress a week before the wedding day. The couple should enjoy a quiet week-end away.  This will ensure that they will be relaxed and radiant on their perfect wedding day.

Dont be a Bridezilla - let  ido Couples Wedding Planning Software put you back in control of planning your perfect wedding.
