Considering Home Schooling?

With the public school system being in such a state of disarray, where many children are treated like a herd of cattle, homeschooling is a very valid option for many parents.  The children in today's schools are in need of the very basics and fundamentals in learning and discipline.  The current conditions make it almost impossible for children to focus and are therefore unable to learn.  The children who are the highest-needs children are given the majority of the teacher's time and those who are less needy are falling through the cracks.

The days of the one room schoolhouse are long gone, but maybe we could learn something from those days.  The teachers had more control and discipline over the children and the children had complete respect for the teachers.  Now the standards are quite different for teachers, they are quite restricted as to how they can control their classrooms without getting themselves into trouble.

If your are considering home schooling as an option for your child, you may wonder if you are qualified, or if your child will lose out on some of the social aspects of public school.  The internet is a valuable tool when making this decision. You can buy everything you might need to educate your children properly right on your computer.  Some schools actually provide all of the necessary materials including lesson plans and diplomas for a nominal fee.

There are also home school groups, in most areas of the country that take field trips together, plan play dates, and other activities to give home schooled kids the opportunity to interact with their peers, because this is an important part of life that schooling provides.  There are also other organizations that you can involve your kids in to help them experience spending time with their peers.  

Home schooling is quite rewarding for most families.  Though there is work involved, the flexibility is important to most families and the connection between the parent and the child is strengthened tremendously.
