Common Wedding Questions

By admin On July 5, 2010 Under 1839

Planning your wedding? Brides and grooms who are planning their upcoming wedding tend to have questions. Sometimes all the questions you need answered come to you at the beginning of this process. However, many times the further along you are in the process of planning your wedding you realize you have more and more questions. That is okay, here are some answers to common questions.

When do we need the guest list by? The simple answer is as soon as possible. You really need to decide who to invite right away because the guest list can impact other wedding planning items. For instance if you have a budget the number of guests will come into play when it comes to paying for the ceremony location or the reception locations. Another reason to come up with the list of guests immediately is because it is not good etiquette to invite people to an engagement party who will not be at the wedding or to not invite people who will. The same goes for sending out engagement announcements.

When should the ceremony and reception locations be reserved? This is also something that should be taken care of right away. The reception and ceremony sites have a direct role into what the wedding is like. They help set the tone and mood of the entire day. Because of this, it is very important to make these choices early on.

Should I have a themed wedding? Of course only you can answer this question. Although it is important to note that there are many more themed weddings each year than ever before. You can easily decorate a wedding to just about any theme and your theme can be overt or it can be subtle. Even weddings which do not seem to have a theme have decorations that feature themes. For instance a bride may choose to have butterflies on her wedding cake, napkins and on her favors.

When should the wedding cake be ordered? The wedding cake should be ordered at least two to four months before your big day. If you have more time than that there is nothing stopping you from participating in cake taste tests now. You will also want to check out portfolios of different bakeries so you ensure you are hiring a great cake designer.

When should the stationery be ordered? Typically brides order wedding invitations and other stationery four to six months before the wedding date. However if you are planning on ordering specialized stationery or invitations which are handmade you may need more time than that.

When should I choose my florist? This is a service that you should book as soon as possible. I would book a florist at least 6 months prior to your wedding, especially if you are getting married in the summer months. Flowers are very prevalent in weddings and you do not want to be without the best help just because you did not contract a florist soon enough.

When should the favors be ordered? The wedding favors are usually ordered about six months prior to the wedding. Before you order them you should make sure you have an accurate guest count and are set in your wedding colors and or theme. You are going to want to order a few extra favors for yourself as keepsakes and you are probably going to want to incorporate your wedding colors or wedding theme directly into the design of the favors.
