How Do I Get My Ex Boyfriend To Come Back To Me? Here’S An Approach That Works Like Magic
Every day I get emails from well intentioned women who want to know "how do I get my ex boyfriend back?" I've realized that most people have no idea how to go about getting back together with a loved one and as a result they end up making mistakes that push their ex even farther away. However, with a little guidance you can get your man back... and it can be a lot easier and less painful than most women make it. Let's cover the basics of winning back your ex and get you on the right track.
Are you feeling anxious to get back together with him? These anxious feeling, while totally normal, stem from the overpowering fear of loss. If you're afraid that you're going to permanently lose the love of your life, this can send you into "panic mode" and it's very likely that you'll do things out of desperation. Unfortunately, any kind of desperate behavior usually back fires and makes your ex become even more distant.
You need to get these panicky feelings under control. Yes, easier said than done, but you can do it. Accept the fact that you can't "make" someone do something against their will so stop trying so hard.
Let your ex boyfriend know that you're open to getting back together, then give the relationship a break. Take some time to work on building up your inner strength and independence. This will give your ex some time to miss you and to start thinking about you again. He will notice the positive changes and see that you're no longer chasing him.
Most guys want what they can't have, and if you're throwing yourself at him he can't help but take you for granted. By backing off and showing that you're no longer completely available, this will usually get him to naturally be drawn towards you again.
Of course there is more to getting your man back then just backing off and not acting desperate. But these are the first steps you need to take to set the stage for a successful reunion. Just remember not to rush in and try to fix everything overnight. Have a plan. Everything else in life that is important you probably plan for right? This is no different... you need a solid plan and some practical guidance so you can have the greatest chance for getting back together.
But what if you try this approach and nothing changes? Can you still win him back? Yes... but there is a right way and a VERY WRONG way to do this. Check out How Do I Get My Ex Boyfriend Back Fast to read more free tips on EXACTLY what to say and do to get him back in your arms now.
About Roman glass jewelry from Israel. Sterling silver and roman glass designs
Roman Glass is an ancient glass, discovered in archaeological excavation sites in Israel and in other Mediterranean countries. The fine Sterling Silver Roman Glass Jewelry is one of the most popular types and styles originated from Israel enabling to wear an entirely unique piece of 2,000-year-old history.
The glass in this aqua-hued jewelry began life as a vase, jug, or vessel. Uncovered from ancient Roman archaeological sites in modern-day Israel, each fragment has been textured and colored by centuries of wind and weather. Each bears the marks of not only its past life as a household or temple object but also the very earth in which it rested until being transformed into a unique accent. Each piece of Roman glass is framed by a sterling silver bezel to create a unique roman glass jewel.
The designs for the jewels are based on artifacts and drawings also discovered on the archeological digs. The Roman Glass is a beautiful piece of history dating back 2,000 years to the time of the Roman Empire. The Roman Glass used for jewel today in Israel is found in archeological digs throughout the land of Israel.
The natural phenomenon which the glass has undergone over the many years it has been buried have given it the unique and beautiful aqua shades we enjoy today in earrings , necklaces and bracelets. Initially, in the Roman empire, glass was mainly used for vessels and available only for the wealthy.
At that time, glass was manufactured by core forming, casting, cutting and grinding. However, since the invention of the glass blowing, glass was available to the public in vast numbers, mass produced in a large variety of shapes and forms. Due to the great popularity of glass during those ancient times, we today are priviliged to make use of these gorgeous historical pieces with which we enhance the beauty of our roman glass jewelry. Ancient Israel, due to its large stretches of sandy dunes and beaches, was one of the largest glass producers of the Roman Empire.
These same sands helped preserve the glass through the centuries, shaping and tempering it into the jewelry-quality pieces being excavated today. Today the fragments of the 2000 years old roman glass that were once part of the lip of a goblet, jar, or other vessel are used in Israel to create beautiful jewelry that mixes the typical blue and green old glass excavated from archaeological digs with silver or gold creating a piece of art and history to wear with love. A certificate of authenticity is available for the Roman Glass jewelry.
It is interesting to know some facts about the glass history and the Roman Glass history, collected from several sources. The History of Glass Glass is formed when sand (silica), soda (alkali), and lime are fused at high temperatures. The color of the glass can be altered by adjusting the atmosphere in the furnace and by adding specific metal oxides to the glass "batch" (such as cobalt for dark blue, tin for opaque white, antimony and manganese for colorless glass).
A venerable legend perpetuated as late as the seventh century A.D. in the writings of Isidore of Seville gives a suitable miraculous explanation for the discovery of this elemental--yet truly wondrous--material - This was its origin: in a part of Syria which is called Phoenicia, there is a swamp close to Judaea, around the base of Mt. Carmel, from which the Bellus River arises . . . whose sands are purified from contamination by the torrent's flow. The story is that here a ship of natron [sodium carbonate] merchants had been shipwrecked; when they were scattered about on the shore preparing food and no stones were at hand for propping up their pots, they brought lumps of natron from the ship.
The sand of the shore became mixed with the burning natron and translucent streams of a new liquid flowed forth: and this was the origin of glass.(Isidore of Seville, Etymologies XVI.16. Translation by Charles Witke.) It is not surprising that the ancient authorities thought of Phoenicia as the birthplace of glass, for the Syro-Palestine region did indeed become a major center of glass production in antiquity, along with Egypt. However, glass seems actually to have been "discovered" not in Phoenicia, but in Mesopotamia. Archaeological research now places the first evidence of true glass there at around 2500 B.C.
At first it was used for beads, seals, and architectural decoration. Some 1,000 years elapsed before glass vessels are known to have been produced. Vessels of glass quickly became widespread in the second half of the second millennium B.C. They were popular not only in Mesopotamia but also in Egypt and the Aegean. The earliest vessels were core-formed. Opaque, dark glass in its molten state was wound around a clay core attached to a metal rod. The skin of hot glass was fashioned with tools in order to shape its external features. Lighter colored strands of hot glass were then trailed on the surface and often "dragged" to produce festoon patterns. The pot surface was marvered (that is, rolled on a smooth, flat surface to produce a level finish). Finally, it was cooled slowly before the clay core was scraped out of the hardened vessel.
This glassware typically imitated forms originally established for ceramic, metal, and stone vessels . Somewhat later, the molding technique was developed, whereby glass chips or molten glass were packed or forced into a mold and then fused. After a molded vessel was annealed (cooled slowly in a special chamber of the glass furnace), it was often ground and polished in order to refine the rim and any other rough edges. One typical shape for molded vessels of the late Hellenistic and early Roman periods (c. 150 -50 B.C.) was the so-called pillar-molded bowl. Here exterior ribs radiate up from the base, stopping abruptly near the rim to allow a smooth margin around the circumference.
This type is ubiquitous; and it attests to the free and rapid exchange of ideas in glass-making throughout the Greater Mediterranean sphere. The site of Tel Anafa in Israel is a small settlement in the Upper Galilee. During ten seasons of fieldwork between 1968 and 1986, Saul Weinberg and his successor Sharon Herbert oversaw the uncovering of part of a small settlement of the Hellenistic and early Roman periods. In Tel Anafa I, Herbert presents the architecture and the stratigraphic sequence (text and some illustrations in fasc. i, locus summary and plates to Chs. 1 and 2 in fasc. ii). The volume also includes studies by other scholars of the geological setting of the site, the stamped amphora handles, coins, vertebrate fauna, and a single Tyrian sealing. Tel Anafa II, i is devoted to the Hellenistic and Roman pottery.
A future volume (II, ii) will complete the series with publication of the pre-Hellenistic and Islamic pottery, lamps, glass, metalware, stucco, stone tools, and the palaeobotanical remains. Tel Anafa (recently excavated jointly by the Universities of Michigan and Missouri) has provided critical information on the chronological limits of these bowls within the Roman period. Glass vessels were initially available only to the very wealthy and only in rather diminutive sizes.
They were manufactured by core forming, casting, cutting and grinding. The invention of glass blowing around 50 BC brought glass vessels to the general public in vast numbers, mass produced in great variety of forms and hence brought ancient glass into the reach of the modern collector of even modest means. One can nowadays own a Roman glass bowl, or drink from a Roman glass beaker, or wear ancient jewellery where glass was used widely. In 63 BC, the Romans conquered the Syro-Palestine area.
They brought back with them glassmakers to Rome.Soon after, the first transparent glass sheets were produced in Rome. The word vitrum, meaning glass, entered the Latin language.Rome's political, military, and economic dominanace in the Mediterranean world was a major factor in attracting skilled craftsmen to set up workshops in the city, but equally important was the fact that the establishment of the Roman industry roughly coincided with the invention of glassblowing. The new technique led craftsmen to create novel and unique shapes; examples exist of flasks and bottles shaped like foot sandals, wine barrels, fruits, and even helmets and animals. Some combined blowing with glass-casting and pottery-molding technologies to create the so-called mold-blowing process.
Further innovations and stylistic changes saw the continued use of casting and free-blowing to create a variety of open and closed forms that could then be engraved or facet-cut in any number of patterns and designs. Core-formed and cast glass vessels were first produced in Egypt and Mesopotamia as early as the fifteenth century B.C., but only began to be imported and, to a lesser extent, made on the Italian peninsula in the mid-first millennium B.C.
By the time of the Roman Republic (509-27 B.C.), such vessels, used as tableware or as containers for expensive oils, perfumes, and medicines, were common in Etruria (modern Tuscany) and Magna Graecia (areas of southern Italy including modern Campania, Apulia, Calabria, and Sicily). However, there is very little evidence for similar glass objects in central Italian and Roman contexts until the mid-first century B.C. The reasons for this are unclear, but it suggests that the Roman glass industry sprang from almost nothing and developed to full maturity over a couple of generations during the first half of the first century A.D. Doubtless Rome's emergence as the dominant political, military, and economic power in the Mediterranean world was a major factor in attracting skilled craftsmen to set up workshops in the city, but equally important was the fact that the establishment of the Roman industry roughly coincided with the invention of glassblowing.
This invention revolutionized ancient glass production, putting it on a par with the other major industries, such as that of pottery and metalwares (as 20.49.2-12). Likewise, glassblowing allowed craftsmen to make a much greater variety of shapes than before. Combined with the inherent attractiveness of glass-it is nonporous, translucent (if not transparent), and odorless-this adaptability encouraged people to change their tastes and habits, so that, for example, glass drinking cups rapidly supplanted pottery equivalents. In fact, the production of certain types of native Italian clay cups, bowls, and beakers declined through the Augustan period, and by the mid-first century A.D. had ceased altogether. However, although blown glass came to dominate Roman glass production, it did not altogether supplant cast glass. Especially in the first half of the first century A.D., much Roman glass was made by casting, and the forms and decoration of early Roman cast vessels demonstrate a strong Hellenistic influence.
The Roman glass industry owed a great deal to eastern Mediterranean glassmakers, who first developed the skills and techniques that made glass so popular that it can be found on every archaeological site, not only throughout the Roman empire but also in lands far beyond its frontiers. Cast Glass Although the core-formed industry dominated glass manufacture in the Greek world, casting techniques also played an important role in the development of glass in the ninth to fourth centuries B.C. Cast glass was produced in two basic ways-through the lost-wax method and with various open and plunger molds.
The most common method used by Roman glassmakers for most of the open-form cups and bowls in the first century B.C. was the Hellenistic technique of sagging glass (81.10.243) over a convex "former" mold. However, various casting and cutting methods were continuously utilized as style and popular preference demanded. The Romans also adopted and adapted various color and design schemes from the Hellenistic glass traditions, applying such designs as network glass and gold-band glass to novel shapes and forms. Distinctly Roman innovations in fabric styles and colors include marbled mosaic glass, short-strip mosaic glass, and the crisp, lathe-cut profiles of a new breed of fine as monochrome and colorless tablewares of the early empire, introduced around 20 A.D.
This class of glassware became one of the most prized styles because it closely resembled luxury items such as the highly valued rock crystal objects, Augustan Arretine ceramics (as 10.210.37), and bronze and silver tablewares (as 20.49.2-12) so favored by the aristocratic and prosperous classes of Roman society. In fact, these fine wares were the only glass objects continually formed via casting, even up to the as Late Flavian, Trajanic, and Hadrianic periods (96-138 A.D.), after glassblowing superceded casting as the dominant method of glassware manufacture in the early first century A.D. Blown Glass SOMETIME AROUND 70 B.C., in Jerusalem, someone realized that, if you took a glass tube -- then the stock for mass production of beads -- sealed one end and blew into the other, you could create a glass bulb. Blow hard enough and long enough, and you could make a small bottle.
This was glassblowing at its most primitive. It is quite possible that, without further refinement, this moment of experimentation might have passed unnoticed. A couple of decades later, however, the introduction of a separate blowpipe, together with a tool-kit of variously-sized pincers and paddles, made it possible to blow and shape glass with much greater control, and with much greater novelty.
The new technology revolutionized the Italian glass industry, stimulating an enormous increase in the range of shapes and designs that glassworkers could produce. A glassworker's creativity was no longer bound by the technical restrictions of the laborious casting process, as blowing allowed for previously unparalleled versatility and speed of manufacture. These advantages spurred a rapid evolution of style and form, and experimentation with the new technique led craftsmen to create novel and unique shapes; examples exist of flasks and bottles shaped like foot sandals, wine barrels, fruits, and even helmets and animals.
But the potential of a technological idea will only come to fruition if its seed is planted in an encouraging cultural environment. During Rome's Republican Era, in the dictatorial times of Sulla and Julius Caesar, such encouragement seems to have been lacking. In the Hellenistic world, the firmly established traditions of working glass -- either by blending threads of it into closed vessel forms or by slumping glass over a pre-shaped model for open ones -- were producing fine wares with which the infant technique of free-blowing could not yet compete.
In the Roman world, however, pottery was still the material of choice for everything domestic, from fish platters to perfume bottles, and no one seemed to be in any hurry to change that situation. Enter the Emperor Augustus. It is said that he had no love of foreigners; he viewed the appreciable numbers of them living in Rome around 10 B.C. as a potential source for the corruption of traditional Roman values. If I interpret his subsequent actions correctly, he wanted the Italian mainland to be far more self-sufficient wherever possible. So it was that Italian businesses in certain crafts -- most obviously, pottery- and cloth-making -- were encouraged to expand. The craft of glassworking now was adopted from the Hellenistic world with much energy and skill. An ancient Industrial Revolution was underway.
To get things moving, the Romans simply enslaved hundreds of skilled craftsmen in the eastern provinces, uprooting them from their homes and resettling them in the outskirts of rapidly-growing Roman cities. Pottery-makers were imported from Asia Minor, particularly from around Pergamum, and put to work at Arretium; Greek craftsmen were moved from Athens to Lyons and other cities in central Gaul; glassworkers were brought in from the provinces of Syria, Judaea, and Aegyptus -- most likely from the cities of Sidon, Jerusalem, and Alexandria -- and put to work in shops at Naples, Aquileia, and just outside Rome itself. There was an immediate market niche for glassware in Augustan times.
Like many ancient peoples, the Romans believed in an afterlife that was an idealized form of their worldly experience. According to its means, the family of each dead Roman was obliged to provide furnishings for the grave. Such furnishings always included regular domestic items -- plates of food, flasks of wine, and so on -- but it was also a tradition to include offerings of perfume. The Roman wealthy would put these offerings in bottles (unguentaria) made of silver or alabaster. The eastern craftsmen who brought with them the skill of glassblowing now offered the rest of the population an alternative in glass; to be sure, not something as elegant or colorful as might have been wished, but which everyone could afford. The free-blown unguentarium was one of the immediate and long-term successes of the newly emerging industry. Modern excavations have revealed many instances where a grave contains not just one or two but a couple of dozen of these, all mass-produced, each in a matter of minutes at most.
At the same time, glass captured the popular imagination by virtue of its translucency. You could see the color of wine in a beaker, or how well a bottle was filled even if it was sealed -- which could not be said for items made of pottery, or indeed of bronze, silver, or gold. The production of wine glasses soared in the Augustan era, actually causing the demise of some of the pottery workshops that specialized in traditional beaker types. It was glass's distinctive property of transparency that stimulated the Emperor Nero's tutor, Lucius Seneca to observe that " ... Apples seem more beautiful if they are floating in a glass." (Investigations in Natural Science I.6).
And, from the middle of the first century A.D. onward, squared-sided glass bottles -- typically with capacities in the half- to one-liter range -- were used for a great deal of the short-range movement of liquids such as olive oil and the popular fish sauce known as garum. Thus the industrialization of glassworking in the Augustan era came about through the influence of three distinct forces: First, by virtue of certain historical events (Augustus's rise to power and his promotion of craft-centralization on the Italian mainland); second, because of a technical innovation (the invention of glassblowing in one of Rome's eastern provinces); and third, the social pressure related to fashion or taste (a traditional link between perfumery and Roman funerary ritual). Change in the Roman glassworking industry was always most dramatic whenever all three of these forces came together at one time.
Uses
At the height of its popularity and usefulness in Rome, glass was present in nearly every aspect of daily life-from a lady's morning toilette to a merchant's afternoon business dealings to the evening cena, or dinner. Glass alabastra , unguentaria, and other small bottles and boxes held the various oils, perfumes, and cosmetics used by nearly every member of Roman society. Pyxides often contained jewelry with glass elements such as beads, cameos, and intaglios , made to imitate semi-precious stone like carnelian, emerald, rock crystal, sapphire, garnet, sardonyx, and amethyst. Merchants and traders routinely packed, shipped, and sold all manner of foodstuffs and other goods across the Mediterranean in glass bottles and jars of all shapes and sizes, supplying Rome with a great variety of exotic materials from far-off parts of the empire. Other applications of glass included multicolored tesserae used in elaborate floor and wall mosaics, and mirrors containing colorless glass with wax, plaster, or metal backing that provided a reflective surface. Glass windowpanes were first made in the early imperial period, and used most prominently in the public baths to prevent drafts. Because window glass in Rome was intended to provide insulation and security, rather than illumination or as a way of viewing the world outside, little, if any, attention was paid to making it perfectly transparent or of even thickness.
Window glass could be either cast or blown. Cast panes were poured and rolled over flat, usually wooden molds laden with a layer of sand, and then ground or polished on one side. Blown panes were created by cutting and flattening a long cylinder of blown glass.
AN INDUSTRY THOUGH Roman glassworking certainly was, it was one that maintained a remarkable degree of dynamism over the centuries. The shape and decoration of two of its main products -- the unguentarium and the wine beaker -- were being modified every few decades, sometimes quite sharply, and there were many new items of glassware introduced that expanded the glassworker's repertoire in significant ways. The way that the Romans committed themselves so heavily to the maintenance of good ports all around the Mediterranean coastline and of fine roads that criss-crossed the entire Empire on land was also critical for keeping the Roman glassmaking industry so dynamic.
Of course, the main purpose of such maintenance was to assure the easy movement of troops from one trouble spot to another, and of administrative information from one city to another. But these ports and roads also allowed the movement of people and their ideas. Signatures and inscriptions in Greek indicate clearly enough that eastern Mediterranean craftsmen settled at various places in northern Italy and central Gaul; that north African and Syrian soldiers were conscripted to serve in the army in northern England, thereafter to settle there as tradesmen; and that businessmen of every background and philosophical persuasion traded wherever it was to their advantage to do so. Thus, every Roman city became a social melting-pot where technical innovations could be passed on, blending with or displacing old ideas, sometimes in the space of just a decade or two.
The industrial activities of the Roman world responded accordingly, with a freshness of purpose and an ongoing rise in skill. Jewelry in the Roman Times Ancient Roman glass jewelry reached its height during the Augustan age, at the beginning of the Empire. This meant that in many ways the glass jewelry were deprived of much of the expressive freedom one might expect and hope for. The buyers of this fine artistic jewelry were the conservative political.
The period of peace achieved during the rule of Augustus and Augustus made this possible, especially after the vicious fighting of the Roman civil wars. Ancient Roman jewelry in earlier times was derived from both Hellenistic and Etruscan jewelry. In addition, as Roman jewelry designs freed itself of Hellenistic and Etruscan influences, greater use was made of colored stones such as: topazes, emeralds, rubies, sapphires, and pearls. Trojan and Cretan artisans of the Minoan period, although working at opposite ends of the Aegean region, crafted earrings, bracelets, and necklaces of a common type that persisted from about 2500 BC to the beginning of the Classical period of Greek art 479 BC - 323 BC. Roman jewelry was highly influenced by some of the designs of the places they conquered and established connections with. The creators spared no effort in making some of the most exquisite and ornamental compositions. Rings were a major symbol in the body of ancient Roman jewelry.
Ornamental Roman jewelry was worn by women of high status. They often wore jewelry on their ears, neck, arms and hands. Ancient Roman designs and fashion jewelry also included seal rings, amulets and talismans. The cameo and hoop earrings were introduced in ancient Roman times. The gold beads of ancient Rome were artfully shaped to create images of flowers and animals. The most common fact that is assumed by most is that the ancient Roman jewelry has a similar resembles to the Greek and Etruscan jewelry.

Should You Start Buying Acai Drinks
The acai berry consists usually of a pit, and only 10 per cent of the berry is edible. It is small, round, and dark purple in color. It resembles a grape, but it is usually smaller and darker. It consists of an enormous seed and very little percentage of pulp (or skin). It is usually mixed with energy drinks, ice cream, and even energy bars. Healthy acai requires quick processing right after its harvest.
Though it is not actually considered organic, the acai can actually be said to be better than organic as it grows in the rainforests of the Amazon. The rain forest is untouched, and everything is grown naturally, and cared for by the natives. No mass farming or mass production exists.
Pronounced ah-sigh-ee, acai, or euterpe oleracea (arecaceae) boasts of numerous health rewards, which is why its reputation as a wonder product has been growing impressively. It is highly promoted by Dr. Nicholas Perricone, a health guru and best-selling author, calling the acai a "superfood."
The acai berry was not found in North America until two years ago. It is a small, dark, purple fruit from the palmberry tree. It usually grows in the wild Amazonian jungles in Brazil, where it is harvested by natives who have been reaping its health benefits for generations now. Acai is usually served pureed, and consumed as you would a drink. You can even enjoy it as Brazilians do-as fruit shakes, where it is mostly sold along the beaches of Brazil.
Acai is an acquired taste, as the taste will remind you of red wine with a few touches of chocolate. Because of this, most juice bars in the west coast use it as an ingredient when serving smoothies and fruit juices.
Because it is rich in anthocyanins, an antioxidant that battles cholesterol and free radicals, regular intake of acai will help prevent blood clots, improve blood circulation, and relax blood vessels. It is also a great help in preventing arthresclerosis and a powerful combatant of cancer. Red wine has been said to be healthy, and this is because of the anthocyanin content found in grapes. Acai actually has 33 times more anthocyanin than the grape. Anthocyanins also help treat diabetes retinopathy.
Aside from anthocyanins, the acai also includes oleic acid, an acid that is very good for the heart. Oleic acid also keeps a cancer-causing oncogene, usually found in breast cancer patients, from acting up. Acai is also rich in iron and is a great help for people who suffer from digestive malfunctions.
What makes acai so good is that it is also low in calories and fat, yet high in fiber. Its benefits can usually be found in its skin, which includes nutrients such as phytosterols, vitamin C, vitamin E, manganese, chromium, copper, and even boron. Acai also boasts of more calcium content than milk.
Studies show that aside from the benefits mentioned, taking acai helps protect you from viruses and prostate concerns. It also helps improve lipoprotein metabolism and reinforces your immune system. Another positive factor of acai is that it is also considered a potent aphrodisiac, because of its revitalizing qualities. To come up with your energizing aphrodisiac, simply mix your acai pulp with Brazilian guarana. The mix acts like a caffeinated drink. You can also mix it with a number of other mixtures, as nothing in the acai's composition has been considered dangerous when mixed with other drinks. You can mix it in with citrus juice, milk, or even beer.
US users may be disappointed to know that acai is not usually found in US stores. This is because the acai fruit spoils easily. However, most health stores usually offer acai juice or frozen pulp, which you can purchase. Brazilian athletes, on the other hand, consider acai as an important staple in their diets.
While you can definitely get the nutrients found in acai from other nutrients, what gives acai the advantage over other sources is that it packs all these beneficial ingredients in just one tiny product. You don't have to get all the other fruits and supplements to get your fill of healthy nutrients; you just get your hands on some acai juice and your healthy lifestyle is underway.
Other benefits of this amazing product include giving you greater energy and stamina. Aside from improving your digestion, it also helps you focus more mentally in your work. Taking acai juice or acai smoothie will also help you sleep better at night. Acai also includes more proteins than that egg you have for breakfast. It also serves as a revitalizing product, giving you the energy equivalent to that of a raging bull, which helps increase your sexual drive and performance.
It also includes a roster of the nutrients that you need: phosphorus, calcium, iron, potassium, plus the vitamins thiamin (vitamin B1), riboflavin (vitamin B2), niacin (vitamin B3), ascorbic acid (vitamin C) and tocopherol (vitamin E). It also has monounsaturated linoleic acid, known as Omega 6, to help lower your harmful cholesterol (or LDL) while still maintaining good cholesterol (HDL) in your system. Its 12% linoleic acid (Omega 9) content is polyunsaturated, which also helps maintain cholesterol levels. It contains amino acid complex and trace minerals that will help improve muscle contraction and regeneration. It contains low sugar levels and also helps you detoxify.
Aside from all these, acai contains valuable phytosterols. These sterols provide several beneficial qualities, such as helping reduce your blood plasma cholesterol. These sterols are also being used to help treat symptoms associated with BP.
What else are you waiting for? Get your hands on one of those luscious acai juices or acai smoothies and be on the fast track to the healthy life.

Successful Tips For Staging Your Home For Sale
If you are going to "stage" your home when preparing to show your home to prospective buyers, remember this key suggestion: "the goal is to market the feeling of "the good life" and what is possible in your home". Your staging efforts need to diminish the unattractive points and enhance the perks while never creating a phony or tacky vision.
In other words a home should never look like it's been staged. A properly staged home:
pleases the visionary senses
provides a basis for prospective dreams and goals
leaves little room for a "punch list" creation
Start by eliminating as much clutter, personal family references, references to favorite sports teams, and any museum like decorations. Your house is being marketed as a home not museum. Be creative but tasteful when adding the decorative highlights.
In order to further define taste, here are a few "decorator enhancements" to avoid:
A single piece of artwork on a wall with nothing else in the room. The eye will only see the art and not the room.
Garden sprigs, cuttings from bushes and branches brought inside. They dry out, shed and will require maintenance.
Cheap plastic flowers and particularly bright colored, plastic flowers.
Slip covers put over worn out furniture.
Mis-matched furniture which tends to look like a lawn sale in progress
A breakfast tray on the Master Bed with tumbled wine glasses.
Partially furnished bedrooms. For example the dressers without a bed/bed frame
A bedroom that has a bed that is too large for the room
Your staging efforts are meant to enhance the beauty of your home and enhance the worth of the house. A poor or sloppy effort will provide negative remembrances for your prospective buyers which they will gravitate to instead of recalling the positive features of your home. Having to defend or overcome negative reactions is far from your staging intentions.
If the accessories and furniture looks like you got it out of grandma's attic or down the street at a yard sale, the buyer could expect a yard sale price tag on the house. It is better to leave a house empty then to use bad décor! Staging should enhance the architecture of the home, not show off poor decorating ideas. Bad staging draws attention to itself - and distracts your buyer from your listing!

Religion & Politic you Can’t Have One Without the Other!
Hear this, you who trample on the needy and bring the poor of the land to an end, saying, "When will the new moon be over, that we may sell grain? And the Sabbath, that we may offer wheat for sale, that we may make the ephah small and the shekel great and deal deceitfully with false balances, that we may buy the poor for silver and the needy for a pair of sandals and sell the chaff of the wheat?" The LORD has sworn by the pride of Jacob: "Surely I will never forget any of their deeds." (Amos 8:1-12)
I sorta promised someone in the parish that I’d choose a more cheery passage next time I preached. “Come unto me all ye who labour and are heavy laden” was suggested - a message of encouragement and hope. This is not that sermon.
Inspired by our set lectionary readings, for better or worse, I have found myself irresistibly drawn again to the figure of Amos - one of the fieriest or the fiery prophets of the Old Testament. So … my apologies, but strap yourselves in!
Amos is actually an old friend of mine. Indeed, we became friends a long time ago. During my crazy early Christian days, when I was busy preaching on street corners, trying to convert all my old friends, doing my best to share all my possessions, set up shared bank accounts with the other members of the youth fellowship, and turn my flat into a de-facto shelter for local alcoholic persons, Amos was my inspiration.
I preached my first ever sermon at my home church - the Chinese Presbyterian Church in Surry Hills - on Amos, at the first service of the day, and I got so carried away that I just couldn’t be stopped. I preached for 25, 30, 35, 40 minutes, and as people arrived for next service and started knocking on the door, I was still going! You have been warned! Strap yourself in (and pour yourself a cup of coffee).
Why was I so drawn to the figure of Amos? Because nobody in the Bible, I think, more clearly reflects the Biblical passion for social justice as does the prophet Amos
Amos was an 8th century prophet, meaning that he preached in the 8th century B.C., before the destruction of Northern Israel.
If you know the history of ancient Israel, you know that after the reigns of King David and his son Solomon, there was a civil war of sorts in Israel, after which the country was split into north and south. The southern state of Judah remained loyal to the line of David and maintained Jerusalem as their capital, while the much larger state of northern Israel set up their capital city in Samaria, and built there an alternate temple, which, according to the books of Chronicles, was the beginning of the end.
The importance of this with regards to Amos is that Amos was a southerner, from the southern state of Judah, but was preaching in the north! This was a point of tension for Amos, and when he comes into conflict with the northern religious authorities he’s told to go back home and mind his own business, and I’m sure that his southern drawl would have made it difficult for him to get a unbiased hearing.
Amos was no professional preacher either, with a clever, polished style. He tells us quite frankly that he was a farmer who felt called one day to go and preach to the people of the north. So he closed the farm door, got on his donkey, rode all the way to Samaria, the capital of the north, set up a soap-box, and started preaching:
Thus says the LORD: "For three transgressions of Damascus, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment” (Amos 1:3)
I’m in Amos chapter one, where we read of Amos giving a series of prophecies of doom to a variety of middle-eastern nations - Damascus, Moab, Edom, etc. - and he speaks of the terrible judgement that God is going to bring upon these peoples for the crimes of violence that they have committed.
We’re told that the people of Damascus “threshed Gilead with sledges of iron”, and that the Edomites hunted down their Israelite relatives “and showed no pity”. We’re told that the Ammonites even “ripped open pregnant women in Gilead”!
We are not unfamiliar with this sort of violence. Crimes such as these continue to happen. Indeed, for some of our parishioners, who have come to us seeking refuge from their own war-torn homelands, these reports may sound all too close to home!
They were crimes took place, of course, in the context of war, but so far as Amos in concerned, this is no excuse. Don’t bother pleading, “I was only following orders”. God will not overlook such terrible acts of inhumanity.
In terms of Amos’ overall message, it’s worth recognising that in this opening spiel, Amos is railing exclusively against Israel‘s enemies. Indeed, if you take a map of the area and pinpoint the nations that Amos targets in these prophecies, you‘ll see that they encircle Israel, and that crimes of violence were all perpetrated on Israelites.
This was probably Amos‘ attempt to get his audience on-side by whipping them into a patriotic frenzy. “Woe to the you violent Iranians”, he cries. “woe to the Syrians, woe to you Hezbollah Muslim fanatics”, ... and all the people say, “Amen!”
In chapter 2 though, Amos adjusts his sights, extending his message of doom firstly to Southern Judah (his home country) and then finally to the people of the north, and again it’s for crimes of violence, though this time of a more subtle nature:
Thus says the LORD: "For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not revoke the punishment, because they sell the righteous for silver, and the needy for a pair of sandals - those who trample the head of the poor into the dust of the earth and turn aside the way of the afflicted; a man and his father go in to the same maiden, so that my holy name is profaned; they lay themselves down beside every altar on garments taken in pledge, and in the house of their God they drink the wine of those who have been fined.” (Amos 2:6-8)
Amos’ basic charge is one of violence against the poor, but it’s not because there are gangs roaming the streets, beating up poor people (‘Clockwork Orange’ style). Rather, what is being targeted is systematic injustice that is being perpetrated through the government and through the economy!
This practice of ‘selling the righteous for silver and the needy for a pair of sandals’ refers to a business practice whereby poor people were being ripped of and further impoverished though an unfair system of trade. While the exact details are not known, we know today that people are still being ‘sold for a pair of sandals’ ,or running shoes, at any rate (made in the third world factories belonging to Nike etc).
And along with these unfair trade practices go high interest rates from the banks and money-lenders, that make it almost impossible for the poor to get ahead. They “lay themselves down beside every altar on garments taken in pledge, and in the house of their God they drink the wine of those who have been fined.”
It says in the Torah that if you if a poor man gives you his coat as a acuity for a loan, you have to give that garment back to him at nightfall so he has something to sleep on. What we see here though is that the money-lenders are charging exorbitant interest rates from these poor people, taking their garments, yet have the gall to take them to the temple and sit on them while they drink!
The temple-worship of these businessmen strikes Amos as blatant hypocrisy, and he’ll come back to that again. Let’s note though first that Amos also launches an indictment here against ‘a man and his father who go into the same maiden’.
We assume that this is more than just a particular incident of promiscuity. Most likely cult prostitution is on view, or young slave-girls forced into the sex industry. Exploitation takes many forms and, Amos says, God will not excuse any of it!
The aspect I most want to draw attention to in this opening volley from Amos, is that he is not just attacking some nasty people who are doing some obviously nasty things. The crimes that he has on view are ones that are embedded in the system.
The men of violence that he targets are not street thugs. They are businessmen! These money-lenders are not wanted men. They are acting within the law. And even these father and son teams who are getting up to mischief out the back of the boardroom are probably not doing anything technically illegal. What we have here is a corrupt system that is enriching one section of the community at the expense of another. The business leaders are working with the courts, and they’re getting their blessing from the priests, and it’s all entirely kosher (pardon the expression).
What Amos is telling the people is that their God does not consider the fact that it’s legal to be an excuse! You can‘t say, “sorry mate, but business is business” and “it’s not my fault. I‘ve got to operate in the real world”, any more than those Ammonites can say, “We were only following orders” or those young boys can say, “but raping young girls is an acceptable part of the culture where we come from”.
“Garbage!”, says the prophet. It doesn’t matter what standards your culture sets any more than it matters what your mates were doing. It doesn’t matter what your orders were. It doesn’t matter whether it’s legal or illegal. It’s wrong, it’s violent, it’s demeaning of other human beings and God will not overlook it, even if everybody else was doing it!
In chapter 5, Amos highlights the way in which the powerful are working with the courts. He speaks there about ‘the gate’, and the gate of the city is where they held their court, so when it says ‘the gate’, it’s a reference to the legal system.
“They hate him who reproves in the gate (ie. an honest judge) and they abhor him who speaks the truth (ie. an honest witness). Therefore because you trample on the poor and you exact taxes of grain from him, you have built houses of hewn stone, but you shall not dwell in them; you have planted pleasant vineyards, but you shall not drink their wine.” (Amos 5:10-11)
Again, it’s not because anyone in particular is beating up on poor people, but because there is a corrupt legal system in place that is generating injustice. A similar point is made in Amos’ well-known attack on the upper-class women of Israel in chapter 4, where he refers to these ladies as ‘cows’!
"Hear this word, you cows of Bashan, who are on the mountain of Samaria, who oppress the poor, who crush the needy, who say to your husbands, 'Bring, that we may drink!'“ (Amos 4:1)
Again, these women are not out on the streets, oppressing the poor. They probably rarely ever see poor people. Those sorts of persons probably don’t get up to ‘Bashan Heights’ very often - the place where these women were ‘grazing’.
No, their sin is in their involvement in an unjust system. They say to their husbands, “bring that we may drink” and they are probably only half-aware of the fact that their fine wine and their gorgeous parties are only possible because of the injustice and virtual enslavement of the poorer section of their population.
Chapter 5:21-24 has Amos’ most focused attack on the people’s worship:
"I hate, I despise your feasts, and I take no delight in your solemn assemblies. Even though you offer me your burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them; and the peace offerings of your fattened animals, I will not look upon them. Take away from me the noise of your songs; to the melody of your harps I will not listen. But let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.”
This was a favourite passage of Martin Luther King’s and of Latin American scholar, Hose Miranda, who said (in ‘Marx and the Bible’) that this passage illustrates how the God of the Bible does not really care about prayer and worship. I think this is an exaggeration. The practices being referred to were God-ordained, and there is no doubt, I think, that God delights in the prayer and worship of His people, but NOT when those who are worshipping are simultaneously profiting from injustice, from the systematic oppression of the poor.
These issues of injustice, corruption and hypocrisy all come together in the reading we had this morning, from Amos chapter 8:
Hear this, you who trample on the needy and bring the poor of the land to an end, saying, "When will the new moon be over, that we may sell grain? And the Sabbath, that we may offer wheat for sale, that we may make the ephah small and the shekel great and deal deceitfully with false balances, that we may buy the poor for silver and the needy for a pair of sandals and sell the chaff of the wheat?" and keep our thumbs on the scales, and outsource all our manual labour to Gabon, and take control of those oil-fields in Iraq, and make a killing on the stock exchange while we‘re at it! (nb. I am ad-libbing a bit) The LORD has sworn by the pride of Jacob: "Surely I will never forget any of their deeds.” (Amos 8:5-7)
Sisters and brothers, some people says to me, “Dave, as a Christian I am not interested in politics”, and I can say to them in all honesty, “neither am I”.
If by ‘politics’ you mean the way governments work and way bureaucracies function, I agree, I find the whole science of these things entirely boring, and I suspect that Amos did too. But what I am interested in, and what I think Amos was interested in, and what we all must be interested in, is people.
And when people are being destroyed - whether it be by acts of individual violence, through the drug trade, through relationship breakdown, or through the legalised violence of an unjust political or economic system, none of us can turn a blind eye.
Saying, ‘that’s just the way things are’ is no excuse. Hiding behind company policy or blaming the system will not cut it with the Almighty, says the prophet Amos.
The people of Northern Israel ultimately had to learn this lesson the hard way when their Assyrian neighbours came down and crushed their system and destroyed their nation about 30 years after Amos came and warned them. Let us hope and pray that in our case we can come up with a less brutal solution for bringing life and health and humanity back into our economic and political systems.

Packing and Moving Tips
Packing
First let’s talk about moving boxes. Now you can go to your local grocery store or liquor store and get cardboard boxes, but you will be asking for boxes just like a hundred other people. They only have so many. If you are lucky enough to find some there, they may not be very big, or they may be too big. If you are not careful, the boxes from the grocery store may have food substance that leaked into the box. To avoid all of these problems it is better to just go buy moving boxes. You can go to places like Home Depot, Lowes, UPS stores or U-Haul, but they will be quite expensive, not to mention they have a limited amount on hand or a limited amount of sizes available. Of course, Ultimate Moving Supplies has an unlimited quantity available, and we carry the three most useful sizes. Do you think we would write these tips without mentioning our name at least once?
It is best to start in one room. If you move from room to room, then one, you lose your focus, and two you will have a harder time remembering exactly what and where you packed your items. It goes without saying that when you have packed your box, label it. Invest in some marking pens, they are worth it.
Now that you have a plan of attack, let’s talk about how to pack. The bedrooms will be the easiest, because there aren’t as many items as say the kitchen. You might want to knock these out first. This way it will seem like you are making good progress. The one drawback to the bedrooms is the closets. Some people pack their closets with as much as will fit in there. It is best to pack large moving boxes with the bulky stuff, like blankets, extra pillows and such. The medium moving boxes are excellent for flat objects, such as games, stereo equipment, and some dishes; platters, serving trays and regular plates to name a few. Small moving boxes are great for your smaller but heavier items, like appliances, books, and magazines. They don’t hold as much so you won’t have a tendency to overload them. You don’t want to go to all the trouble to pack your boxes, and then have all the contents fall out when you pick up the box.
Here is a brief note on getting the boxes ready to use. Purchase a few rolls of quality packing tape and a dispenser. It is worth it. You might want to get several packing boxes ready to go ahead of time. This way you won’t have to stop and put together a box each time you fill one up. Here’s how to do it. Fold the boxes with the end flaps on the inside. Run a piece of tape from one end along the bottom and back up the other end. You will want about 4- 6 inches on each end. Take another piece of tape that is a couple of inches shorter than the width of the box, and run it along the bottom of each end perpendicular to the other piece of tape. Do this on each end. You now have a box ready to go. If you use just one piece you won’t have the strength you need. Boxes are usually longer than they are wide, so it saves tape to put one piece on each end rather than running three strips along the length of the bottom.
Now you have a plan of attack and you have your boxes. Fill ‘em up. As you fill up each box put it to one side, then start stacking them up. Try not to have open boxes. You won’t be able to stack them if things are sticking out the top. The top of the boxes only need one piece of tape. Remember, mark your moving boxes, and mark them on at least two sides, for example; Master Bedroom-Closet-Games. If you have all your boxes stacked, when moving day comes, you can take your hand truck, and pick up the whole stack.
When you are packing your moving boxes a little common sense is required. If you are packing breakables, you may want some bubble wrap or at least some paper. Newspaper works fine, but sometimes the print may bleed on to your items. Think before you pack. One thing I didn’t mention above about going to the liquor store for boxes is, the divided boxes that wine and liquor come in are great for packing glasses. Some liquor store may want to sell them to you, only because their suppliers buy them back from the stores. Figure out how many glasses you have and get as many boxes you need. Wine and liquor boxes are not very big so they won’t hold much, but they will hold 12 glasses in each box safely.
Let’s talk about clothes now. If you are just moving across town, you can pack your clothes in the back seat of your car. You will more than likely have several people helping you move, so that gives you several cars to load up with clothes. If you are moving long distance, then you may want to get some wardrobe boxes. Unfortunately, Ultimate Moving Supplies doesn’t carry wardrobe boxes. Here is a freebie tip. Go to a moving company like Mayflower and see if they have any used wardrobe boxes in the back. They probably will, and they may just give them to you. If you are using a moving company to move you long distance, then I’m pretty sure they will give them to you.
When packing items that stick out of the moving boxes, it is best to pack as many of these type items in one box as possible. Even though you won’t be able to stack these, they can be carried out individually. We don’t recommend putting them on top of a stack of boxes, only because it makes the stack top heavy, and this will cause problems. Trust us on this, been there, done that!
Moving
OK, it’s now moving day. If you are using a moving company, most of this won’t apply to you. They do the actual moving for you. That’s what you pay them the big bucks for. If you are doing the moving yourself, with the help of your friends of course, then listen up. Here is a list of items you may want to have on hand. These tools will make the moving so much easier.
A hand truck or even 2 hand trucks. Buying a hand truck is an excellent investment. There are lots of uses for a hand truck. An appliance dolly. Appliance dollies have straps that hold the appliances to the dolly, this is almost a must. If you try to use a hand truck, it will be a major hassle. A furniture dolly. These are great for dressers, chests of drawers, or china cabinets, and big screen TVs. Shoulder dollies, forearm forklift moving straps, and mattress carriers, all make moving those bulky items a whole lot easier. Having Cargo control straps keeps your load from shifting. Most moving trucks don’t have the power to make your stuff fall on takeoff, but when you turn, things will fall. Driving over curbs is another way things will fall. If you aren’t used to driving a truck, you will more than likely drive over a curb. Remember, swing wide.
When you go to get the moving truck, that is if you are going to rent a moving truck, get one bigger than you think you will need. Almost always, you have more stuff than you think you have. Again, trust us on this.
Most rental trucks have automatic transmissions, so they are easy to drive. If you are not used to driving a truck, here are a few suggestions about driving the rental truck. Make sure you have someone spotting you when you back up. It is very hard to judge distance when you are using the mirrors, and you will be using mirrors; that is the only way to see where you are going. Here is another tip; watch you’re your overhead clearance. Don’t try to take the truck through the drive-thru at McDonalds. You will be responsible for any damage to the truck. When backing into the spot where you want to be, the hand signal for the driver is; hands apart to let him know how much distance there is. Say there is 3 feet to go; you hold your hands 3 feet apart, as he/she backs up, and is getting closer, you, the spotter move your hands together. When he/she is where you think the back of the truck should be, hold both of your hands up for the STOP signal. Most rental trucks have ramps that pull out. You will definitely want to use this. Pull the ramp all the way out, and then lift it up so you can hang the two lips in the appropriate slots. This keeps you from having to lift or step up each time you go into the truck. One more thing, remember to leave enough room for the ramp. If you are a good enough driver and have enough room, make it so you can drop the ramp right on the threshold of the door. This isn’t always possible, and probably very often, is not possible, but if you can, do it.
Packing the truck
This may be the most important part. If you don’t pack it right from the beginning, you will not have enough room, no matter how big a truck you get. With that said; if the truck has an overhanging compartment, start with your boxes up there. If not, then start with your biggest items first, appliances, dressers, entertainment centers, bookshelves, and china cabinets. The spaces in between can be filled with boxes or other items that fit there. The object is to NOT have any gaps. Gaps allow your stuff to fall or shift. Once you have the big items in, fill up the space above them with bulky, but light items, like bed frames, or dvd racks. Between you mattresses it is a good idea to put mirrors, headboards, or pictures. You may want to get some moving blankets or furniture covers to protect your furniture and appliances. Now, as you work your way from the front of the truck to the back, check and see how much stuff you have left. Outdoor furniture, barbecues, and bicycles can be saved for last. Do make sure you remember them. Out of sight, out of mind. If you find you have more than enough room, then start to lower the level of each row of stuff. It will look like a wedge, the highest part in front and the lowest part at the end of the truck. If by chance you do have too much room left, then you can tell us, you were wrong dudes!
Good luck!

How to Use these Internet Marketing Tips to Get More Visitors
Internet marketing is being seen by more and more people as a viable career choice. That's because there is good money in marketing various products over the internet. Use the following internet marketing tips to help you succeed.
If you want to succeed at internet marketing, you must be able to help your prospective customers. These people are potential customers and you want to be able to sell to them. You have already had them show signs of buying by adding themselves to your list and by visiting your site. Now you need to take advantage of that interest and show them why they should buy your product. This is your chance to make the sale by not selling, but by recommending. When people come to your site, they should automatically know everything you want them to about your product. You can help them understand by including video or even audio. You can even have a blog where you can post interesting information about the product you're promoting and anything related. You will be helpful to your prospects but you will also be able to form a bond with them. You can try many things that will have your prospects feeling at ease, but you must use your creativity. Your prospects also need to be able to navigate your site easily.
Every aspect that makes up your site should be created so that it's easy to process and so that prospects respond to it. People who come to your site want to move around easily, and if they do they will be more likely to make a purchase.
Another important Internet marketing tip is to offer a guarantee for the product you're selling. Some of your potential customers might be hesitant and may not be able to reach to a buying decision. When people see that you guarantee your products, they may feel at ease and they'll likely buy what you're selling. Your visitors may go over your site thoroughly, but still go somewhere else because they aren't for sure about what you're offering. People will respond to a guarantee, however, as it tells them you'll live up to your end of the bargain in case they don't like the product. But what actually happens with a guarantee is, a very small percentage of people actually ask for a refund. And remember, the longer your guarantee, the lower will be your refund rate.
Your customers must see you as a person, not just an automated message. You want your visitors to see you as someone caring and someone with personality.
Your writing should come out just like you talk and you should think of yourself talking right to your customer using simple words. Not only that, but forming a relationship with your customers means you'll be there whenever you have a product upgrade and/or update of the products you're selling. It's all about showing your customers that you care.
All in all, internet marketing isn't the easiest thing you'll ever do, but it's not hard either as long as you keep at it.

Unconventional Bridesmaid Dresses
A wedding is one of the most valuable and unforgettable moments in life. The wedding dress is the dress worn by the bride in the wedding ceremony. All bride desires to look startling on her wedding day, so naturally wants a wedding gown that fits flawlessly. The color, texture, design, etc. of the wedding gown is obviously the bride's pick. White is a popular color for American wedding dresses, as white is linked with qualities like purity, peace and chastity. It's time we changed the stereotype about bridesmaid dresses. If you really want your bridesmaids to actually wear the dresses you chose again, you need to think outside the box. As a bride, your goal should be to choose a wedding gown for your maids that are universally flattering and somewhat easy on the wallet.
When it comes to the thought for the precise wedding favor, which also comes under wedding items, the potential are endless. Couples have so numerous options on hand today in the case of wedding favor that it may materialize to be an intimidating task to settle on the right token of appreciation. A bride may prefer to make wedding favor selections based on the décor of the reception table.
Often, traditional bridesmaid dress stores sell dresses that are more expensive than most department stores. The significance of wedding dress should be a bit self explained. While traditional venues may be able to offer a wider range of sizes and color choices, department stores such as Macy's and Nordstrom have more original designs and can have better prices. Depending on the body types of your girls, you might want to check out the junior departments for basic styles and lower prices. Discovering a wedding dress that compliments your unique body shape is vital. Brides with a physically powerful monetary background can have enough money to get their wedding gowns designed from the very top in the industry. The preference of the designer depicts the bride's dressing intelligence. The gown and the designer have to be selected, keeping in mind the majestic reception and the ceremonies to follow.
Tips on thinking outside of the box:
Choose a color and allow each maid to select their own dress within the shade (with the brides' approval of course). Turn your bridesmaids into a floral backdrop by setting guidelines for their dresses to be floral patterned and the silhouette of your choice. Have each bridesmaid wear a plain black cocktail dress. It's an easy way to have them look classy and guarantee they will wear a dress they love. Keep an eye on seasonal sales at the mall. For example, if your wedding is in the fall or winter of next year, look for sales on fall/winter dresses at the end of this season. This works best at stores such as Express, The Limited, or GAP. Select a brand, color and fabric and allow each maid to choose the style of dress that best fits their body type. Target.com, JCPenny.com, Nordstrom.com, and Macys.com all have sections on their websites specifically for bridesmaid dresses. Look into renting dresses. Groomsmen rent their tuxes, don't they?
Now that you've helped your wonderful bridesmaids save money and look fabulous at your wedding, hopefully they will return the favor when it's their big day.

Wedding Favors – How To Get Great Souvenirs For Your Guests
Whether it is a simple party or grandiose get together the best way to show guests ample appreciation for coming is giving away party favors. One celebration in particular that needs a lot of consideration and planning. Finding the best and appropriate wedding favors for guests must be top precedence among other things at wedding celebrations. Flamboyant unique trinkets may prove to be appealing. Bear in mind that since there are many to choose from in the market place it can ultimately lead to indecisiveness. Therefore the best way to combat this is to be in the know what's hot and what's not. Custom fit the personality of the guests to the wedding favors. And, in no time they will love it.
Food for the gods is one very delicious example of a wedding favor guests adore. As sweet as the ceremonies can come those delectable treats are heavenly to the taste buds. Heart shape chocolates, candies and cookies that spell-out love, like fortune cookies, are also good alternatives for this type of wedding favors. Personalized picture of the couple, goodie bags, canisters or boxes accentuated by love notes and ribbons are ways to spice them up.
For the more extravagant wedding favors, elevate those delicious treats from cookies to miniature replica of the wedding cake. Now, that is one way to make a wedding statement. Those little stunners are mostly popular to the well-off high class families. As long as they are within reasonable budget, then it is exceptionally graceful to give out. Best way to pack these beauties is to place them in simple or intricate, depending on your preference, boxes. This will keep the wedding favors from deforming, and it will be less trouble to take home.
There is one way to make sure guests commemorate the wedding vividly. Pictures make for good remembrance and placing them in frames can craft for a practical wedding favor. The majority of wedding nowadays uses this. As the popular choice for wedding favors, picture frames can be dressed up according to the theme or motif. It can also come in the most simplest in form to give way to the guest's liking in using it, leaving everything to the imagination. This can be practical, in that the picture frame can blend well with the interior d

Wedding Invitation Ideas For A Small Budget

Your Wife?s Secret Desire?
It’s a desire that she has been forced to squelch for years and years…
It just wouldn’t be proper for her to express her heart’s secret desire.
You should know that this desire is at the core of ALL her fantasies…
Whether she ever tells you about them or not, these fantasies are waltzing across the dance floor of her mind constantly.
She’s had this desire for a really, really long time…
In fact, if you were to go back in time, all the way back to when she was a little girl out on the playground…
There were two team captains…they were picking players for their respective team…and there she was…a little girl, her pony-tails bouncing, jumping up and down, waving her arms in the air, and shouting:
“Pick me! Pick me! Pick me!”
And now, she doesn’t jump up and down. Now, she doesn’t wave her arms around in the air. Now, she doesn’t say a word…
But inside of her, there’s a voice that’s every bit as urgent as when she was a little girl that’s crying out:
“Pick me! Pick me! Pick me!”
The only difference is that instead of wanting some team captain to pick her for a mere game, she now wants a strong, masculine MAN to “pick” her.
To her, being “picked” out of a crowd of available females by a MAN is the ultimate romantic concept.
To her, there’s nothing else that excites and satisfies her like being singled out and picked by a MAN does.
Her heart yearns to be that girl who gets chosen by a MAN. This is your wife’s secret desire.
Few men seem to realize or grasp this notion – which is fortunate for you – because if your wife ever did encounter such a man who knew how to play to her secret desire – you’d get to watch and see for yourself just how much of a sexual livewire your wife really is – while you sat out in the cold sidelines.
Unfortunately, some men will find this article AFTER their wife has met up with such a man. Hopefully, you’ve found this article BEFORE your wife meets up with such a man.
Either way, if you wish to win and keep your wife, you must NOW become the man who knows how to fulfill her secret desire – you must NOW become the man who knows how to fulfill her fantasies where in one way or another, you’re her MAN who “picks” her over all the other females around her.
And in doing so, you’ll touch an emotional nerve that runs so deep and so powerful through your wife that you’ll be amazed by her response.

The Top Three Internet Marketing Tricks for Getting Traffic That’s Targeted
Is internet marketing something you're trying to succeed at? Well you should know that if you have attempted it and not succeeded, many are in your same shoes. You are definitely not by yourself in this. You must learn the ins and outs of internet marketing and now you'll see that you must learn the methods to succeed, which you're about to learn right here.
A perfect way to succeed at internet marketing is to make sure your prospects know that your product is a great benefit to them. No matter what you're promoting online, be it a product or a service, people are always interested in what they can get out of it. If you give them the information as clearly as possible, they will surely buy from you. Your prospects won't respond to your product, even if it's the most exciting product ever designed, unless you can let them know how their lives will improve by buying it. When writing your ad copy, it's important that you precede each benefit with a feature. That way your product appears to benefit them all over the place. Your sales letters need to include the benefit in the title and then additional benefits in the letter itself. Your written reviews should provide benefits that are more like recommendations while also giving your honest thoughts. Whether writing a sales letter, review, or any other form of promotion, the product's benefits need to always be highlighted. If your customers enjoy your promotional efforts, they will be more likely to purchase what you're offering. Your customers will only purchase what you're selling if you can tell them how their lives will be different by buying the product from you.
Another great tip for internet marketing is to choose a niche and then become an authority over that niche, as that will help you stand out amongst your competitors. You aren't going to sell more books than Amazon, after all. However, if you specialize in books about bird watching, people will flock to your site instead of going to Amazon. See what I'm talking about? What you want is to become the authority figure over that niche and someone that people come to when they want to know more about it. It may take some time to get results from these methods, but once they start working you won't be stopped.
Trying to make your online business's site is not easy when you lack the proper know-how. Internet marketers and webmasters often try to do all the techie parts themselves and often with disastrous results. You can instead use WordPress, which will help manage your content easily. You will likely have to learn as much about it as possible, and then you'll find that setting it up is easy. WordPress also works great for SEO, and the search engines will reward you for using it. As you probably know by now, there's quite a bit that is part of success with online marketing. Persistence and dedication are major components to success.

Who Says You Need To Buy Wedding Invitations?
If you are in the process of planning your wedding, you have probably already begun looking for the perfect wedding invitations. What you may not know is that you can print wedding invitations yourself using your computer and your printer. Not only does this have the potential to save you quite a bit of money, but it also gives you added flexibility because you can add another guest to the list at the last minute if you need to and then just zip off another invitation.
There are many different software packages out that allow you to create customized holiday cards and what-not. These types of programs have been popular with the average computer owner for many years and there are so many that most of the available titles will cost you less than the latest video game. You may even own one already, either something you purchased a while back or perhaps even something that came with your computer.
Now I know what you're thinking. You've seen homemade greeting cards made with a computer and they look, well, quite obviously homemade to say the least. Right. But that's all changed in the past several years. For one thing the cheap printers that are being given away with new computer packages these days are usually capable of some pretty decent photo-quality printing even if the machines themselves aren't that durable. If you actually went out and deliberately bought yourself something halfway decent in the last year or so chances are your printer is more than adequate for the job.
But of course, who wants their wedding invitations printed on silly little pieces of white copy paper that's been folded four times to make it a little less flimsy looking. No one. These days amateur desktop publishing is so sophisticated that you can get nearly any size, thickness, style and color of paper at a reasonable price -- and a lot of this stuff is made specifically for use in inkjet printers. So you can pick out something with the texture, thickness and color you want, in the size and shape you want, use your greeting card software to create a custom design that you love and print it out using the inexpensive inkjet you probably already own.
Sure, it's not that easy. You might have to hunt around for the perfect paper if you've got something really specific in mind, and you will probably have to spend a little time learning the ins and outs of your greeting card software, but if you start today and put your heart into it the reward for your hard work and dedication will be getting exactly what you've always dreamed of and saving money at the same time.
Helpful Tip: When you are figuring up the cost of your wedding invitations, don't forget to include postage expenses. It makes sense to assemble an invitation (with return card if applicable) inside the envelope and take it with the to the post office to have it weighed. This way, you'll make sure you apply enough postage. It would be heartbreaking to find all of your wedding invitations returned for insufficient postage and have to resend them.
Best of luck in the journey towards your wedding day!

Ten Effective Ways to Motivate Yourself
There will be days where you don't want to do anything involving that dreaded four letter word - work. Whatever type of work you do in order to get to a specific goal you have in mind, sometimes we need that burst of energy to combat that "lazy," "procrastinating," "I-don't-want-to-do-it" voice in our heads.
Everybody goes through this; it's common, but it's important to understand how to quickly get yourself into gear so you are taking action. One of the best ways is to motivate yourself. Here are ten effective methods you use whenever you feel like you need motivation.
Looking to the Future
Knowing what it is that you want in life gives you motivation. You should have a vision of your ideal life. Where you want to travel? Where do you want to live? You could be cruising on Yacht in one of the beautiful beaches of the world. You could be living in a mansion with a beautiful, loving spouse and kids playing around you. You could buy that dream car you've always wanted ever since a teenager. Make a collage and post it on the wall. Don't be afraid to let other people see it if it's something that motivates you to do your work. It's for you, not for anybody else.
Going Outside and Run
Yes, run. It's very healthy for you in fact. By running you'll be stimulating blood to your brain and allowing more oxygen in your body, letting you think better. But the point is to get you away from all this swirling chatter going inside your mind at the moment and just enjoy whatever is going on outside. Maybe you can just jog around the neighborhood and see people watering the grass, kids playing outside, people talking and help each other, etc. There's more to life than being stuck at work and sometimes getting your adrenaline running while seeing something else besides your work is a simple yet powerful source of motivation.
Getting Inspiration from Gurus
Everybody has role models. There are many inspiration people out there that have overcome feats in way worst situations than you. I mean Donald Trump is a good example. He was over 900 million dollar in debt at one point, but after ten years from that experience, somehow managed to pull himself out to become one of the wealthiest people on earth today. It may take some work to looking into their biography, but it's worth it. Find out who inspires you that works in the same field you are in and read up on them. Post a picture of them on your wall and use their pathway to success to help you give you motivation whenever you are feeling down.
Just Taking Action
Believe it or not, some people think it's ridiculous that one needs motivation to get to work. If you just take action, you might find that motivation will come to you when you are deeply in tuned with what you are doing. You will feel the momentum! An example might be turning something you hate doing and then diving straight into it and turning it into an obsession. And as you are taking action and "in the moment", you may gradually be more aware of all the little things that you never noticed before, which might interest you, give you more motivation to dive deeper into your work, and perfect it.
Stimulating Pain
Some people can't feel motivated if they don't feel pain or a sense of desperation to do something. These would be times of need, when there is no other option but to work. This type of "urgency" gives a person a burst of energy to get things done. You can create pain by going back and remembering the painful consequences you had to deal with when you needed to get something done or if you don't get something done such as getting yelled at by someone you're afraid of or the feeling of living out in the streets and having no home.
I remember my freshman high school basketball coach was one of the scariest people on earth; every time he barked, we would listen. He turned what I thought was going to be a fun basketball experience into a physical living nightmare, but it motivated each of us to struggle, work, and fight for our lives, or we would be punished at even more and eventually be cut from the team. Sometimes discomfort may be the best motivators of all, since if we feel to comfortable with ourselves we lack discipline and don't want to talk action at all.
Competition
Are you blood thirsty to be the best? Do you have that killer instinct to out compete your opponents? In every field of work, when more than one person is trying to achieve the same thing, there is always going to be competition no matter what. Some people are afraid of it, others use it to motivate them to become better and work harder. Maybe it's time for you to be aware of who is your competition right now, the ones that you see and don't see, and put it on your wall, so you know you're objective is beat them, to get ahead, to win. Go into the "survival-of-the-fittest" mode and use that drive to make you take action whenever you think about competition.
Music
It's a no brainer that music affects our mood. If you put on a blues song, you'll feel sad. If you put on a jazz song, you will feel relaxed. If you put on pop song, you will feel happy. If you put on a motivational song, you will feel motivated. And how many songs are there like this that you can find? Millions. People have different preferences of songs that affect them; you just have to find a song that motivates you. Songs that have made me motivated usually have a fast beat. If you enjoy hip-hop, try listening to "Changes" by Tupac or "Opportunity" by Eminem.
Creating Laughter
Laugh your way to motivation. Life doesn't always have to be serious, nor it does it always require a an awe-inspiring, perfectly crafted way to get motivation. Sometimes all you need is just a good laugh, shrug off your worries, and you're good to go. Imagine something funny in the past that was so stupid that it made you laugh, or if your good at improv, take any current situation and turn it into something so ridiculously pointless that it makes you laugh as well. Use self-deprecation, act stupid, be an idiot for once, pretend your work is funny and just wants your attention, then make fun of both of you guys. Use humor; it's a wonderful feeling.
Small Bits
One little, small, single, tiny... step goes a long way. When you feel you like you can't even get yourself to get to work, just do one thing that can, even if it's the littlest thing possible. Then, reward yourself every time you take small step. Give yourself a pat on the back. It's supposed to be a psychological effect to trick you mind into thinking you're doing more work than you actually are, but then end results are that you are already doing work so why not just go forth with it.
For example, I used to hate doing math homework in high school. Many times I'd procrastinate and put it off to the side. I found that if I just took the energy to just open my backpack and flip it to the page of my homework and just look at it for a few seconds; I knew I could at least do the first three problems. From there, I could do the next one, then the next one, and before I knew it, I would subconscious be in the process of doing my homework.
Knowing Why
Finally, do you know why you are working? Or are you just blindly working for no reason? We all do things for a reason and sometimes if you know exactly why you are doing what you do, it will be enough to motivate you. Maybe this beyond materialism, maybe it has to do with helping a love one, or getting yourself out of an ugly situation, or maybe it just has to do with personal growth. What is your purpose? Whatever it is, make sure your why is something that makes you desire it and motivates you whenever you think of it. This will help you take action.
What Motivates Me?
There isn't one thing that specifically motivates me. I usually get motivated by random things that happen to be around me during that specific time. But the one thing that usually always help motivate me is knowing what is going to happen if I do something. What is going the outcome or the result of something. What is going to be inevitable.
For example, I know if I take the time to read a book I will educate myself and learn something new. Sometimes reading isn't always fun, but I know it's inevitable that I'll at least get something out of it and that is enough to motivate me to take action. And if you keep doing something enough times, you know, what will be the result of not only for the short term but in the long term? Look ahead. I mean, sometimes motivation is necessary to give you that quick burst of energy but, ultimately you want to use it produce an inevitable outcome that you know will happen ahead of you. Don't rely on needing motivation every single time just to get something done.
Find a way to make your work into a consistent habit and you'll soon realize that you won't need that much motivation to do something; you'll motivation will die down but you'll be able to do what you need to get done. That, in my opinion, should be the reason for motivation - not just having a "high" and forgetting about the next day, but using it a crutch to make your actions a consistent habit so you can always take action without always thinking, "I need motivation today in order to get to work."

Approach to home school studies
It's imperative for parents to decide at what age their kids will be ready for education. Starting to home school kids too early could cause developmental problems. The main focus should be on training kids to improve their morale and behavior. More of reading to children should be done during their early years. Self-discipline and good morale are two essential qualities, which will lay a good foundation for children. Academic teaching in the later years will be productive for children. The learning methodology and home school studies differs for kids at various levels. Children below the age of ten are in foundation level where they need training on self-discipline and building their vocabulary.
Children start developing their reasoning skills when they cross twelve. Thus different methods of home schooling apply to different age levels, which can be tailor made to meet the abilities of each kid. Parents who home school their kids cannot force them to get adapted to a program, rather the program must be tailor made so that it can be adapted by the child. The Charlotte Mason method, unit study approach and classical approach are traditional forms of home schooling. The Charlotte Mason method is considered as the habitual method where the child is trained on to develop good qualities such as self-discipline, co-operation, concentration, honesty and so on.
Parents who home school their children should provide their kids with a rich environment with lot of useful resources. Making suggestions and answering the questions put forth by their kids would help them in logical reasoning. In the unit study approach, various subjects on arts, science, history, language and mathematics are combined together around a common idea. Parents can either use books which deal with unit study approach or construct their own curriculum based on the child's interest in a particular area of study. Children should be encouraged to pursue their interest and the right amount of freedom should be given in order to make you kids excel in academics.
The education given to your kid at a home school should be balanced. Extremity in any aspect would not be productive for a kid's growth from academic perspective. Being too strict or providing a military academic classroom setting or being too lenient will not be useful for your kid's career. The very purpose of home schooling will be unsuccessful. home schooling is like an art and mastering it takes time to understand the concept and analyzing your kid's capabilities as well as interests. Any approach to home school studies would be successful when done the right way. Hands on materials, projects and educational trips would give an opportunity for kids to learn from what they experience rather than being fully focused on textbooks with just factual information. Practical method of learning when combined with theory based lessons would make sense to the kids and they will have a better understanding.
There are numerous benefits of Home school studies and choosing the proper home school curriculum for your child. For more information about Home School and Curriculums, please do visit our site - http://www.homeschoolcurriculum.org/

Should I Call My Ex Boyfriend? He Hasn’t Called Me!
Emotions run high as you finally grab the phone and ask yourself that one big question:
"Should I call my ex boyfriend?"
The answer to that question is easy... depending upon your circumstances. It also depends upon what type of relationship you're trying to put back together: one in which your ex loves and respects you, or one in which he walks all over you and takes you completely for granted.
In every break up, there are winners and losers. The one who calls the other one first is usually the one who gives in to temptation. At the same time however, your romance is probably very important to you. Whether or not you should call your exboyfriend isn't a game: it's a very big decision that will affect the future of your relationship. If there is one, that is.
Getting an ex boyfriend to call you first is always the ideal situation. Believe me when I tell you this: he's sweating the break up too. Even if spending time apart of breaking up was his own idea, your boyfriend still had doubts about it when he approached the subject. Chances are good that he's still in the process of convincing himself, and just a little push in the right direction could have him picking up the phone. But for now, let's say your ex boyfriend hasn't called you. Let's say you've gotten no emails, no text-messages, and no indication that he's still interested. What should you do next?
Some of the best ways to get your ex interested in you again are actually the simplest. Being happy is probably your number one move right now. Your ex is still watching you after the break up, gauging your reaction... and if you think he's not, think again. Every guy on the planet will watch his exgirlfriend's reaction to being dumped, if for no other reason than to stroke his own ego. Guys love to know that you're still in love with them, still need them, and still want to chase them. So when you don't? When your boyfriend looks back over his shoulder and sees you laughing and smiling and having a great time without him? It's the fastest and most effective way to grab hold of his attention again.
Many women sit at home, waiting for the phone to ring, wondering the same thing: should I call my ex boyfriend. The smart ones however, have yanked the phone cord right out of the wall. By leaving your ex in the dark as to where you are, your exboyfriend will immediately think the worst. "She's not home? Why not? Did she go out? Where to? Who was with her? How come she's not sitting at home upset right now... how could she be out with friends?" These are all thoughts that go through a guy's head when they don't see or hear from a girl they dumped. For this very reason, if you want your boyfriend back? You need to make yourself scarce immediate after he ends things between you.
This means no calling him, text messaging him, or emailing him either. Social networks such as MySpace and Facebook are off limits too. The further you can disconnect from such outlets, the faster your ex will come back to you. Wondering why he hasn't called you? It's because you're still doing all these things. Your ex knows exactly where you are at all times, and feels no threat that you'll run off and move on without him. While this happens, you're prolonging the break up. Your exboyfriend will take it to the furtherest extreme because he feels the most comfortable right now.
Getting back an ex boyfriend requires you to be proactive. You can't just sit back and hope things will work out for the best. You also can't just pick up the phone and call your ex boyfriend whenever you want to... you need to first create an atmosphere where he misses you and want to hear your voice. Creating a step-by-step plan for winning him back is essential to success.
There are 8 Individual Steps that will Get Back Your Ex Boyfriend, so find out what they are! And for more detailed information on re-establishing a connection after the break up, check out Contacting Your Ex Boyfriend
New Scholarships For Working Moms Who Want To Go Back To School
Working moms usually have a pretty consistent routine. You go to work, you come home and do more work and take care of your family's needs. However, you should take a moment to think about what the future holds for you and your family. Scholarships for working moms offer an opportunity to make your future brighter.
Why do most moms hesitate about going back to complete their college degree? Working moms lead a very busy life at a very fast pace. However, that does not prevent you from realizing that the world keeps turning and the future is on you before you realize it. You must sometimes think about what things will be like in your life in five, ten, or twenty years from now. Do you know where you will be?
If you are in a nowhere kind of job, you can pretty accurately assume that it will stay that way. However, with a college degree, in a few short years, you can be assured that you will have improved your lot in life. You can map out your path, and look forward to arriving at your destination of a better paying, fulfilling career.
Many times, time and money are what prevent moms from going back to school. You can get financial aid funding through grants and scholarships, especially now that President Obama has increased the federal funding for education. The problem of time is really a realization that you can invest a little of your scarce, precious time right now and reap benefits in a few years, even while continuing in your present employment.
There are a few ways to help deal with the time constraints facing a working mom returning to school:
1. Online courses: You can take courses online, or you can actually take whole degrees online in certain subjects. This saves quite a lot of time in daily commutes to school, and allows you more time at home. You can do your classroom work while still being there to supervise your children, making child care unnecessary. The new governmental grants for Moms apply to online courses, too.
2. Be diligent and disciplined. When you manage to get some extra time for study, use it in the best way you can. Do not allow yourself to be distracted at all from your allotted tasks. You will develop better concentration and study habits as you.
3. Think about your future goals. Keep yourself focused on what you are trying to accomplish. Remember that the fatigue and workload are just temporary, and you will be so much better off after you complete your education.
You need to take the courage to make that first move; step out and begin your journey to your new life by beginning to apply for grants and scholarships for working moms. Then you will be on your way to a bright tomorrow and a job of your dreams.

A Horse Of Their Own – The Pony Of The Americas – For Young Riders Only
The Pony of the Americas, more commonly referred to as the POA, is a popular and growing breed that was designed as a mount especially for young riders who were too big for a small pony but not ready for a full-sized horse. The small size of the POA makes it easy for parents to match a child to the proper pony. The Pony of the Americas is a distinctive pony breed that looks more like a small horse and possessing the attractive coloration of the Appaloosa. Their quiet disposition and gentle nature make them highly competitive in all equine disciplines. It is a rugged, athletic pony with the speed for games and jumping; strength for driving small carts; and the intelligence and patience for showmanship and equitation.
Les Boomhower, of Mason City, Iowa, was a Shetland pony breeder and an attorney with his own practice and in 1954 one of his neighbors offered him an Arabian/Appaloosa mare who had been bred to a Shetland stallion that was due to foal in the spring. Les waited until the foal was born before he bought the mare. The resulting colt born was white with what looked like black paint smears all over his little body. What intrigued the lawyer the most were the spots on the colt's flank that formed a definite black hand, which was the basis for the colt's name, Black Hand.
Mr. Boomhower had an idea to provide a pony breed between 44" and 52" tall that would be good for children to ride and show and that had the beautiful head of an Arab; a body muscled for speed like the Quarter Horse; and coloring distinguishable as an Appaloosa from a distance of 40 feet along with good stamina. He invited his Shetland breeder friends to his Memory Lane Ranch to discuss the idea and that was when the Pony of the Americas Club (POAC) was born. Mr. Boomhower's expertise in the law set up a solid foundation for the new breed registry of this distinguished pony's off-spring. As the foundation stallion for the Pony of the Americas breed, his colt was given the first registration number and is now known as Black Hand #1.
Among the breeds influencing the original POA were the Arab, Thoroughbred, Quarter Horse, Appaloosa, Welsh Pony, and Shetland Pony. In1963, the height limit of the breed increased to between 46 inches and 54 inches and the Shetland started being phased out of the POA breeding program. Larger ponies such as the Welsh and small horses such as the wild Mustang and the Arabian were combined with Indian ponies, Quarter Horses and Appaloosas to achieve a "little horse" look rather than the pony look of the Shetland. In 1986 the upper height limit of the breed was again increased, this time to 56". Today, the Pony of the Americas is created by crossing registered POAS; by crossing a registered POA with a registered horse or pony of an approved breed (see POAC for list); or, by crossing a registered POA with a grade horse or pony that has been identified with the POAC as being acceptable for breeding purposes. By 1996, the POAC had over 45,000 registered ponies.
The Pony of the Americas Club, Inc is now an international organization that it is the only equine breed organization devoted to youth riders. From the original Club came more than 40 POA state clubs and chapters throughout the United States and Canada that offer, state shows, regional shows and sales, a world class international show and sale and a world championship show in addition to Play Days and other events year round. The age limit of a child showing a POA changed from age 16 in 1954 to age 18 in 1973 and in 1987, age19 and over riding classes were added with a limitation that the POA under saddle is to be only 2, 3, and 4 year olds in training. Since the shows are designed around youths, adults are limited to showing the animals only in halter or pleasure driving classes. However, this makes the breed a pony for the whole family.
The Pony of the Americas should show style and substance, beauty and symmetry, being a balanced individual regardless of size and correct in all aspects of conformation, exhibiting approved color patterns and characteristics. At maturity, the POA is between 12 and 15 hands inches in height at the withers and typically weighs 750 to 950 pounds.
In addition to the refined head with dished, Arab-like nose showing mottled skin about the nostrils and lips, the Pony of the Americas has expressive eyes and fine ears. The chest is deep and broad, the back is short and the shoulders are sloping. The quarters are substantial, and the legs should have ample bone. The POA is a strong, fast, and durable pony capable of performing a wide variety of tasks.
The POA is most commonly recognized by their variety of colorful coat patterns that are similar to Appaloosas, from blankets to leopard spots; mostly white over their loins and hips with dark, egg-shaped spots, although the spots may vary in size from specks to spots four inches in diameter. Spots may be dark in the middle with a lighter ring surrounding it, called a halo. White over the hips without dark spots is known as snow-capped. Ponies that have white hairs mixed in with the base coat color are said to be roan. Ponies with Paint, pinto or albino parentage or markings cannot be registered.
The POA also has other distinctive characteristics such as mottled skin; white sclera around the eyes; and vertical black-and-white striped hooves in the absence of white leg markings. It is possible a POA will not have any striping on its hooves, so for this reason, the other characteristics of mottled skin and white sclera are the primary ones to look for in identifying the POA. The mottled or parti-colored skin is a unique trait found in the Appaloosa and POA and therefore it is a basic decisive indicator of a POA and it should show good contrast between the dark and light areas. All horses and ponies can show white around the eye if it is rolled back, up and down, or if the eyelid is lifted. The POA sclera is white and usually readily visible when the eye is in a normal, relaxed position.
POA has 4 gaits. The walk is straight with a long, easy stride that is true and flat footed. The Western Jog Trot is soft, relaxed, and quiet with a definite two beat gait. The English Trot is a free-moving stride, executed in a long, low frame with no excessive knee or hock action. The Lope or Canter is rolling and comfortable with a natural three beat pattern.
Since Appaloosa and Quarter Horse have been used in the development of the POA, Hyperkalemic Periodic Paralysis (HYPP) is a possible genetic defect that could occur. HYPP is inherited as a dominant trait and is characterized by intermittent seizures of uncontrolled muscle tremors (shaking, trembling or twitching) or profound muscle weakness, and in severe cases, may lead to collapse and/or death. To date, HYPP has been traced only to descendants of a Quarter horse named IMPRESSIVE, #0767246. Additionally, with the POA having Appaloosa in their ancestry, it is important to be aware that Appaloosas have a highest risk of any breed of developing spontaneous Equine Recurrent Uveitis (ERU) or "moon blindness", which can lead to blindness if not treated.
The POA is easy to train, senses what is required and readily obeys the demands of its handler and shows good manners in the ability to stand quietly, and back readily. Kids and POAs develop special bonds and these gentle child-size equines can give a child the confidence and the responsibility that will serve them well later on in life. Children cheer for each other even though they are competing against each other. . The gentle disposition, durability and intelligence of the Pony of the Americas serve it well.
