How to Savor a Good Quality Wine
Drinking wine is an experience by itself. It involves all the senses such as our sense of smell, our sense of sight, and of course, our sense of taste. Using all our three senses when drinking wine makes us appreciate the wine more, thus makes the whole experience enjoyable. So how do we actually use these senses when drinking wine? Here's how.
The first thing that you could do is to observe the color of the wine. Deep red wine colors indicate a bold and rich flavor. On the other hand, clear and translucent wines indicate a light and crisp flavor. The next thing that you could do is to smell the aroma of the wine. To do this, simply swirl your wine glass for about ten to fifteen seconds then smell the aroma of the wine from the top of your glass. The aroma of the wine could more or less give you a hint on how the wine would taste like. As we all know, there's a strong connection between our sense of smell and our sense of taste. If a food or a drink smells good, there's a big possibility that it also tastes good. And lastly, you taste the wine. Try to take a small sip on the wine and observe the flavors. Also try to take note of the after taste of the wine after drinking it. Good quality wines such as Syrah wines barely leave an after taste.
So the next time you're drinking wine, always remember to use your three senses. This would surely make your wine drinking experience a notch higher as compared to when drinking it as it is. Happy drinking!
